*Thud*
Amon closes the door behind him as he watched Philomel sit on the bed in front of him. The rest of dinner had gone awkwardly but well. Hector shifted the topic to the village families and debated with Amon which one would be the best. Amon was able to get a hold of his thoughts and keep up the conversation. Light Chief joined in the conversation after a while, Philomel added her opinion here and there but her heart wasn't really in it. Hector and the Chief noticed but assumed that it was due to being shy after what had just happened. Shockingly, bored and energetic Little One didn't add to Amon's injuries. He sat in Amon's lap and played with his shirt, climbing up, pulling, and holding onto it, when Amon starts bouncing him to get him to calm down. All and all, they survived another dinner.
Amon unsure what to say to Philomel after assuming that she is in love with someone else and wants that certain someone's ring on her finger instead of his, decided to sit down next to her. Philomel stares down at the ring, she was doing so shortly after sitting down, and after a moment of consideration, she takes off the ring.
" Here, I'm really sorry that you had to use your precious family heirlooms for this. I'm really really sorry, I should have thought before I blurted out that we were on our honeymoon."
She apologizes once more as she held up the ring to him, Amon hesitated.
"If this really was a sign of Rhane then I, at least want a chance at it. So what if she is in love with someone else? If it's meant to be then I'll have my chance."
Amon decided as he takes the ring from her hand, and slip it back onto her finger as he did so his father's ring touched his mother's ring.
" Among?"
She called out slightly surprised, Amon stared at the ring on her finger, as it glisten red for a moment before turning back into a deep dark blue.
" It's better like this. The ring has an enchantment, when the wearer is in danger the stones would turn green and mine would feel the heat. The intensity of each would lead us back to each other, in times of need. That way, I'll find you... I'll always find you. "
Amon whispers the last part into his mother's ring and kisses it. The ring immediately turns red before fading back to blue. The ring wasn't the only one that turned red in such a situation, Philomel couldn't help but blush at such words and gestures.
" Th... then... ah... I guess... I'll find you as well... with ... your mother's ring..."
Philomel stuttered, unsure how to react to such a situation.
" Always."
Amon glance up at her as he added on with a smile. The warmth of Amon's hand around hers, the intensity of his red and very red eye, the tactful words, and that soft gentle smile. It was that combined sensation that made Philomel's heart skip a beat and made her face as red as an apple. She quickly turns away from him, pulling her hand out of his as she held her cheeks.
Amon restrained himself from chuckling at such a cute reaction and held back the urge to tease her even more.
" Don't you... have to... go pick a family for Little One?"
She reminded trying to change the topic as she takes in deep breaths to calm her heart.
" Don't worry, I settled it with Hector already."
Amon lied through his teeth, slightly wondering if it was a bad way to start something with Philomel. He then realized that he had to choose between Little One who obviously needs him and pursuing Philomel. The more he chased one, the more he would lose the other. He silently thought to himself as he watched Little One roll around the bed fighting with the blanket and pillow.
Amon slightly wondered if he could have both but then realized the more he wanted to keep Little One the more he would have to deceive Philomel since telling her the truth would obviously make her mad. He has already promised her that he would leave Little One here. What woman would want a man who couldn't even keep his word? Especially a promise? His father never raise him to break his promises and Amon couldn't help but feel that he let his father down by doing so.
Amon frowns as he glances at his father's ring on his finger. How much is he willing to give up to find the perfect home for Little One? Was he truly willing to give up his chance at lighting love with Philomel? The only kind of love that he could have since all holy gods have turned their backs on them and so far only those are the only gods able to grant fated ones.
Lighting Love was a more unsure process that needs constant reassurance and support. It was hard to strike a lighting love but easy to feel lighting and lighting can happen more than once. Unless lighting is struck then the name would appear on their significant partner's neck. When that happens nothing can affect the couple, not even a fated mark. The bond however only lasts until death, when that happens the name wouldn't disappear but be able to feel lighting again and strike lighting again. When lighting strikes the second time, the old name doesn't disappear but the new name appears on a different part of the neck.
Which is why it doesn't really feel that special or impactful to some people. Fated Love, on the other hand, was when the god had created a person specially meant for another, they would know almost instantly and feel unwavering love for each other that would always be reminded by a fated mark on their hand. A bond that would benefit the gods the most and helps the couple on their way to fulfilling their destiny. A bond, not even death can do apart for the gods would keep the couple together.
