The trio stared at the beast before them, and the beast stared back. For a full 5 seconds, neither side moved.

The trio noticed that the Iron-Tailed Alpha Monkey was covered in wounds, and there were holes in its body similar to the semi-dead monkey they had found on the riverbanks at one of the access points.

This monkey was one of the survivors who had fled the battlefield. Perhaps it wouldn't live long enough to see another dawn, but it would have enough time to kill the original invaders of the clearing.

Ciona was the first to recognize the animal. It was the first Iron-Tailed Alpha Monkey that had leaped at them, and one distinctive feature was the missing eye.

Kizaer released Shen's body and swiftly moved. Joane, who was right beside them, extended her arms to prevent Shen's body from crashing to the ground, aggravating the wounds and causing them to bleed again.
