Bab 35: Night to Morning
Using the shapeshifting earrings, the four of them flew towards the next closest location which had allowed them to meet up with a younger witch who had much more magic power than the first witch.
It took a little time to convince her to join the coven until it was suggested that a duel would take place using only magic power manipulation.
Blush released the magic from her body which was sent towards the opposing young witch while she did the same.
The large amount of energies clashed and condensed into different shapes to improve their piercing power and ability to move it around freely.
The young mage witches magic was a very large amount and it seemed to be a tiny amount more than what Blush had but there was a clear difference when it came to the exchange.
Blush manipulated it expertly with great precision and any mistakes were quickly corrected after making a slight error.
Her magic was much purer so it was in a far more sturdy state compared to the impure looking mana of the witch.
The clash continued for a while until Blush had corrected most of her mistakes and started to control her magic perfectly without showing any blind spots.
The magic belonging to Blush pushed against the impure magic which caused it to disperse and her magic surrounded and locked the witch in place.
Blush was lacking in combat experience against others who used magic so it was a good way to make up for any flaws she had in her techniques and manipulation of her magic.
There were many kinds of different powers outside of magic and ki so there would always be new challenges so a qualified mage needed to have most things prepared just in case such enemies were to appear.
The young witch stood breathing heavily and waved her hand showing her acceptance of being defeated. "Fine. I will join you but if you become weak one day then I will not trust in you to keep this coven together. I will be the first to leave if that happens."
She seemed to have the attitude that stuck to agreements and respected the strong so she chose to join Alchemi which was a great success for Blush.
After signing the document, the young witch packed her things and followed behind using the shapeshifting earring.
They all arrived at the city and landed in the yard belonging to Blush so they were quickly introduced to Blush's home which they would occupy temporarily.
There were lots of books and scrolls along with some research notes put on her bookcase which contained some of her own research notes while the rest was contained within her head so she did not worry about certain things being stolen.
Blush began to show them around and started to talk to them all. "From now on, my home is your home until we can get Alchemi running. I have notes on various ideas for products which could be released so feel free to look into it to see if you can make something from them or make something similar. I already know your specialties but for the sake of it, state your names and specialties."
The older mage stepped forward and said. "I am Elm, this is Maple and the youngest is Holly. We know a little sleep magic and have done a little research into magics related to sleep and dreams. I think that me and the eldest should be capable of helping with anything research related while Holly is still learning the fundamentals,"
The younger mage introduced herself and went on to explain her situation. "My name is Pandora and my specialty is magic manipulation and researching into gifting or inheritance type magics like those before me. For those that do not know about this type of magic then it is the kind that is used to pass on the magic power onto a descendant or disciple. My masters master had grown their power then passed it onto my master which built upon that power until she reached an old age and passed it onto me."
Blush showed a little interest towards the inheritance type magic and the dream magics since they had great room for development and improvement. "Alright then, you all can get settled down in here for now. Expect that this place may become quite lively over the next couple of days."
Pandora looked over and showed an interest. "So where are you going to now?"
Blush smirked as she replied. "I will be joining the group going on the witch hunt, there is something very suspicious about it so I need to investigate. I need to follow along too now that I have already signed up otherwise they may point me out as a traitor if anything goes wrong."
The witches nodded showing a look of understanding. "Stay safe."
Blush arrived back at her room then went to sleep until there was a knock at the door and shouting. "Alright I am up and coming!"
There were rowdy noises outside of the gathered mercenaries who went around waking up anyone that was taking part in the witch hunt.
Blush had dressed up as she had before so that she would be recognised as the mercenary who signed up to the task and since she had shown up early in the morning when they came to wake her up, nobody seemed to suspect that she had done anything against them like slipping out through the night to betray them.
Even if they had suspected her just because of some minor doubts or prejudice against her, it would not help their case if they chose to speak up about it since it would only cause conflict within the group.
It was too important for everyone to work together in harmony so that they could survive the incoming battles they were about to take part in.
The knight showed up a little while later and seemed to show no signs of noticing anything wrong with himself, his men or the location where he slept for the night so Blush was very relieved. 'Good. He does not seem to notice anything strange about last night.'
The knight gave another brief speech which was the same as the day before then he got on a horse which lead the way.
Many followed behind carrying all kinds of weapons, armour and other daily necessities.
They all had to walk on foot unless they were able to hire or buy a horse or carriage to let them follow behind.
Under the scorching sun that was above everyone's head, many were sweating and going through their water supplies very quickly while Blush used it as an opportunity to practice her magic skin technique and train her magic further.
Nobody seemed to notice the small and thin layer of magic which surrounded her body since it was condensed so much and was completely see through because of its purity.
Some people seemed to have been left behind or had wandered off on their own which caused others to begin to suspect them a little.
The more that they travelled, the more people found the route a little strange as they took a wrong turn then another one but they could not catch up to the knight who was ahead of them so they had to remain silent until they could get the chance to ask what was happening.
A couple were able to understand what was happening while others were still left in the dark but everyone still continued to follow behind until they came to a stop.
The knight pointed towards a forest area and said. "The witch is not too far away so we need to make our preparations. We will wait a little for those left behind then we will begin our attack."
In another location, a couple of people arrived at the location of the meeting place which had been previously stated the night before.
Before they could understand where everyone was, a large amount of arrows pierced their bodies which followed by several crossbow darts and arrows which showed no mercy to those that had come to that meeting place.
Even if they had been left behind and had tried to get to the meeting location so they were technically innocent, they were not spared from the attack which ended many lives.
