Bab 98: Chapter 97: Untitled
"... Shit." Xiu Ye muttered out in disbelief after Wu Zhangkong completely filled him with the current situation in Skysea City.
They were sitting crosslegged on the middle of the floor of the white secured room that he had previously left when they hadn't noticed him.
Sitting besides him were Tang Wulin and Gu Yue on his left and right respectively. While Xie Xie sat on the other side of Tang Wulin while Mu Xi and Xu Xiaoyan sat in line on the other side of Gu Yue. All of his friends were sitting besides him with a serious expression on their faces.
It was estimated that more than half of the city's population has already been infected and turned into zombies. The total population of the city had numbered in 1 million humans, that means that 500 thousand or more people in the Skysea City has already been turned into the undead!
The situation would have gotten way worse if it had spread further from city if it weren't for the mayor, who used a rank 10 defense barrier-type soul device to completely sealed the city from the outside world: effectively making anyone incapable of going in or out of the city with the exception of the secret tunnels of Tang Sect, Spirit Pagoda and the federation.
The three organizations had began evacuating the citizens out of the city with the help of the secret tunnels, with trains in them, but it was taking a lot of time. Disregarding the fact that there was just too many people, they would still have to throughly check them for any hidden evil soul masters or infected.
And when every survivors are escorted safely out of the city, Tang Sect, Spirit Pagoda and the Federation would send their best teams of soul masters to clean from its filth. But if that wouldn't work, a powerful missile strike will be launched towards the city and blowing it all up. But it was only a last resort.
Xiu Ye had expected all of this however; having watched multiple zombie outbreak related movies, animes, games, novels, etc. Even the fact that there two stages of the infected. But what dumbfounded him was that there were not much information about the group of evil soul masters, other than the fact that they were killing anyone and turning them into zombies, and that those soul masters with Soul Douluo and above cultivation couldn't make a move to help the situation.
Wu Zhangkong had testified this information when he and an old friend of his went to meet up with the Skysea Tang Sect higher-ups. For an organization such as them, it wouldn't be a surprise that the higher-ups would be Soul Douluos and/or Tilted Douluos.
He witnessed first-hand how his superiors would be frozen in place, like time had stopped for them with a blood red aura shrouding them, when they decide to go out of the facility and help resolve the situation. He was also informed that this incident wasn't only in Tang Sect but for everyone in the city.
They quickly tried to find out the reason as to why it was happening and found out that a powerful curse, one supplied by a very powerful evil soul master or a group of them, had casted over the Skysea city. It was one that made it that those with the soul power of Soul Douluos and above would be unable to sabotage the plans of the evil soul masters.
Thankfully the strongest evil soul master and undead the organizations in the city had fought had only reached Soul Sage rank, making the situation between them slightly balance.
Xiu Ye however, knew otherwise.
Xiu Ye clenched his fists with a frown on his face. "What about Shrek Academy? I heard that there was a powerful healing type Titled Douluo who is an anthesis to all evil soul masters. Surely she could help dissolve the curse placed in this city and purify all of these zombies."
Wu Zhangkong shook his head, a grim expression on his face as he explained. "You think we haven't tried contacting the academy already? It seems as if this wasn't the only city that had zombies running around. We've been told that approximately four hours ago, two other cities has been taken over by evil soul masters and they did the same as here. Her Excellency, the Holy Spirit Douluo, and the other Titled Douluos from Shrek Academy and many more experts from other organizations have been mobilize to those cities first and are still taking care of them. They currently don't have time or manpower to support us here."
"Why not? And how come they still haven't resolved the issues in those cities yet?" Xie Xie asked with a speechless expression. Surely with a lot of powerhouses helping in just two cities it would have already been over and help them, right?
Tang Wulin and Xu Xiaoyan felt the same way as him but Xiu Ye, Mu Xi and Gu Yue were the opposite because they had thought of a certain possibility.
"...Is it because the danger levels of those two cities is much more higher than here?" Mu Xi softly muttered her theory about the reason towards their teacher.
Wu Zhangkong nodded, proving her and her friends assumption to be correct.
Everyone lowered their heads in muted horror.
The situation here was already worse as it is, while two other cities' danger level was above theirs. They could just imagine the casualties...
Xiu Ye quickly shook it off and asked Wu Zhangkong for more information. "What about using Mechas on the zombies? They can quickly kill them off while without the danger of getting infected."
"The evil soul masters are well prepared and have soul EMP bomb devices to disable the Mechas or any other soul devices with soul circuits as well. The only thing that soul EMP bomb devices couldn't affect are two-word and above battle armors, because the soul circuits used to create them are extremely complex that they wouldn't be easily short-circuited by soul EMP bomb devices and that's only if it could bypass the spirit refined metal the soul circuits are inscribed on that two-word battle armors are made of from. Which applies to black and red Mechas, which is why we already have them out in the field."
"I see..." That means that most of the Mecha masters with purple, yellow and white colored Mechas are useless along with those with one-word battle armors, which are those who are Soul Kings or Soul Emperors.
Xiu Ye rubbed his chin. "So what is the current combat force do we have against those evil soul masters?"
Wu Zhangkong responded with a grimace. "We currently have around twenty thousand soul masters: five thousand from our Tang Sect, ten thousand from Spirit Pagoda and the rest are either from the Federation or independent soul masters that wanted to help. As for the evil soul masters, the last time I checked it with my superiors was that there were only about a thousand evil soul masters spotted in the city."
He let out a sigh and shook his head. "Sadly, although we outnumber them by twenty to one, the real problem is the undead. There are just too many of them for us to handle, and that many of them are reluctant to kill them as many of them knew of them as either their relative, friend, or... lover. That's the reason why our situation here isn't going well and we continue being at a stalemate with the evil soul masters."
Xiu Ye nodded off as he digested the information he was given. It really didn't surprise him that not a lot of people would easily kill their zombified loved ones, they don't have a lot of zombie related movies, animes or literature to understand that killing them off would grant them mercy and released them from their pain.
Right now their odds of surviving and winning against the evil soul masters is still high with their numbers but it wouldn't last forever with the undead situation. Unlike humans, the undead could no longer feel exhaustion mentally, physically and emotionally. It would be a matter of time until someone drops dead from losing stamina or going insane from killing 'human beings'.
Xiu Ye looked around to his friends to see them have bloodshot, lifeless eyes and an aura of despair surrounding them. Seeing them like this made him grind his teeth in anger.
'They're just kids. They shouldn't have been in this situation. I have to fix this, I have to find Na Nali and make her undo this whole mess.' His eyes turned a bit more... sinister. 'And if she doesn't, or can't, well, I have a lot of cursed weapons in my inner world designed for torturing people and sweeping hordes of the undead.'
"Teacher Wu, what if I tell you I know who the main perpetrator is and a method of easily fighting back both the zombies and evil soul masters?"
Wu Zhangkong narrowed his eyes.
"....I'm listening."
