Bab 87: Chapter 86: Winning the competitions like a boss

The next day.

At the first glimmers of dawn, Xiu Ye and Tang Wulin went out to meet with the other delegations from the Blacksmith's Association.

The blacksmith's competition kicked off the start of the tournament. After participating in that event, they would have to rush to the individual competition. Following that would be the two team battles in the afternoon.

God. Xiu Ye groaned. Remain him again why he wanted to participate in this tournament? Oh yeah. Cause he had nothing better to do. Might as well waste the time on beating up some weaklings than nothing right? Yeah no. He needed to get Shrek's, specifically the teacher that's guiding Ye Xinglan and her team, attention on him and recruit him into their school.

'Also, should I go check out this city's auction house? I might find something interesting there to buy.' Xiu Ye hummed and paid half attention to his surroundings. He, Tang Wulin and Mu Xi were currently grouped together with the other blacksmiths from yesterday, in the same room, because Cen Yue wanted to do a last minute check up on them.

Right now he was listening to Zheng Tianlin kissing up to Mu Xi, with the latter, trying to be polite to the guy because his dad was an important figure in the association, responded with short words and smiled so sweet that it made his teeth rot.

Xiu Ye stared straight into space, hands resting by his side, he was deep in thought for the future and not because he was trying to ignore the look of plea Mu Xi was sending him.

Nope. He definitely didn't see her eyes momentarily twitching. Nor her fists trembling. He was imagining things.

Xiu Ye calmly waited for the blacksmith competition to start.

But of course, his life wouldn't be so normal if there wasn't something happening.

"Why are we bringing these brats? Especially this Xiu Ye? Is it so he can experience the world? Anyway, can he even lift a forging hammer at his age?" Zheng Tianlin said, with a mocking tone of voice. His gaze on Xiu Ye.

Xiu Ye withheld the long annoyed sigh that was about to come out of his mouth. He isn't worth it, he thought to himself as he rolled his eyes and then ignored him. He wanted to get some action done and he wasn't about to get into trouble by offending someone. Seriously, that is the number one rule a reincarnator should follow when they get reincarnated into a cultivation world.

"Senior disciple brother, are you questioning my dad's decision? Wulin and Ye are my dad's direct disciple. While Ye is my dad's direct disciple heir. So, do you still think he can't lift a forging hammer?" Mu Xi responded, her arms akimbo.

"What?!" Zheng Tianlin gawked.

Both Xiu Ye and Tang Wulin stiffened and turned to stare at Mu Xi with wide eyes, jaws dropped. A moment later they palmed their faces and groaned.

Zheng Tianlin's reaction was much different however. He glared at the two boys with gritted teeth, his eyes displayed clear hostility.

"No way! You two are just kids!" He gritted out of his grinding teeth before the corners of lips tugged up into a cold smirk. "But we'll see your performance later on won't we? Especially you." He pointedly stared at Xiu Ye.

'Dude. You're eighteen years old and you are threatening a ten year old child, just how stupid are you?' If he didn't know that making a disgusted expression at the guy would further anger him and cause him to make more troublesome troubles in the near future, he would have done so already along with a spat to his face.

Xiu Ye inwardly let out a sigh. Oh why did he become so OP yet not too OP at his age? It just makes life boring.

Well, he'll just hopes that this tournament would really blew off some of that boredom. He entered the stage of where the blacksmith competition would began.

....

Xiu Ye stared.

The other blacksmith contestants stared.

The blacksmith judges stared.

Zheng Tianlin dropped to his knees and fainted.

Xiu Ye pursed his lips, opened and closed them and then he let out a sigh.

On the middle of his forging table, red-cheery glowing intensely, was a fist-sized, hundred refined blue coppertite.

It was a hundred refined forged metal at the highest quality! Moreover, it was forged with a single hammer strike! It completely shocked the entire blacksmiths in the stage.

'4 seconds? Am I getting rusty or something?' Yet, instead of feeling pride or satisfaction, Xiu Ye was annoyed. Normally it would take around two or three seconds for him to hundred refined a metal. He let out a huff and shook his head, 'Well that just proves why blue coppertite is one of the most hardest metals to forge. Its internal veins are constantly moving, making it hard to hammer it correctly without it getting destroyed.

"Judge, I'm done with my piece!" Xiu Ye called out to shocked still blacksmiths, snapping them out of their dazed state.

"Y-y-you, you've succeeded?! Hundred refined?" One of the blacksmiths, a sixth rank blacksmith, stammered as he approached him.

Xiu Ye nodded, "Yup. Can I leave now?"

"Um...." The spoken blacksmith shared looks with the other judges for a few moments before they reluctantly nodded.

"Since you've finished, you can leave-" He blinked his eyes, staring at the empty space in front of him where Xiu Ye had stood.

Mu Xi and Tang Wulin both snickered.

"Teacher is really arrogant, it would one day be his downfall. Well, not like it'll happen seeing as he has the skills to back it up." Mu Xi said, shaking her head and giggling.

Tang Wulin laughed, "Are you insulting him or complimenting him? Senior sister, are you a, what was that word that Ye told me about...ah, tsundere or something?" He wiggled his eyebrows at her.

Mu Xi's cheeks flustered pink, she stuck her tongue out. "Shut up!"

By then, Xiu Ye had already left, feet in a blur as he hurried off to Skysea Stadium.

The gym wasn't far from his next destination. There was still time before the individual competition started. After all, his forging went by without a hitch and he was the first one to finish. Moreover, according to his number plate, he would be participating in the third match of the first round.

Due to the significant number of competitors, several heats were compiled with each heat consisting of fifty contestants. Appearing in the third match would mean he had at least an hour to relax. Like other event grounds, Skysea Stadium was holding separate yet concurrent competitions. Only in this way could the Skysea Alliance Tournament be finished within a reasonable amount of time and accommodate its vast amount of competitors.

Once he reached the stadium, Xiu Ye headed toward the check-in area to begin preparing for the competition, but a figure obstructed him.

"Hmph!" Hm? Xiu Ye raised his head to see who stood in his way.

It was a baleful Ye Xinglan directing a murderous glare at him.

Xu Lizhi stood beside her. To the untrained eye his aura exuded innocence, but underneath the layers of good will and plump cheeks was a hint of bitterness.

"I've finally caught you! Do you have anything to say for yourself?" Ye Xinglan stood with her hands on her hips. Her long eyebrows narrowed down as her eyes blazed with fury.

Xiu Ye blinked his eyes, "Were, were you guys waiting around here for me to show up?"

"No." "Yes." Ye Xinglan and Xu Lizhi instantly replied respectively. The former immediately shot a fierce glare on the miserable fatty.

Xiu Ye raised an eyebrow, "For how long?"

"An hour!" Xu Lizhi wailed, rubbing his pitiful belly in grief. Ye Xinglan snapped her mouth shut from scolding him, feeling guilty.

Feeling pity for the little fatty, Xiu Ye decided to give him a bag of cookies. "Here you go little man."

"Oh! Thank you big brother Ye! You are my savior!"

Xiu Ye chuckled at Xu Lizhi before turning towards Ye Xinglan, eyebrow raised. "So, you're here because of what happened yesterday right? Well, what about it? I and Tang Wulin had already paid for our shares. It was Xu Lizhi who originally promised to treat us anyway. We just left after paying for ourselves. What's wrong with that? Didn't you eat too? Since you were trying to take advantage of us, then why are you spinning it the other way? Do you have a problem with me paying for my share of the bill? I just don't get what your problem is."

Ye Xinglan was loss for words as she recalled the events of the night before, her eyes grew sharp, anger tinting them red. She had never felt so wronged before in her life.

That night, the shop owner had stopped them and demanded payment. Neither she nor Xu Lizhi had any money on them. In the end she resigned herself to calling for help, teeth grinding together in frustration.

Adding to her indignance, the shop owner was convinced that they had planned to dine and dash from the very beginning. In any case, the two children were forced to wash dirty dishes until someone came to pay for their meal. The only other option was to continue until their debts were paid off.

The pitiful, delicate-skinned Ye Xinglan could only weep as she rubbed and lathered the dishes until they were squeaky clean. Not daring to break Shrek Academy's rules, she swallowed down her anger. Though hard to admit, paying for her meal was justified. They were in the wrong, so how could she make a scene?

Thus, two students of Shrek Academy ended up washing dishes in a seafood restaurant in Skysea City.

The very memory of it caused Ye Xinglan to grind her teeth and face flushed. She blamed the entire agonizing experience on the other glutton and the boy before her.

Even though he was right... hmph!

Xiu Ye rolled his eyes again and decided to just ignore her. He quickly passed by them and went towards the stadium.

"You! Stop right there!" Ye Xinglan shouted.

Xiu Ye ignored her and continued straight ahead.

"You bastard!" Ye Xinglan angrily yelled.

"Big sister Xinglan." Xu Lizhi pulled on her sleeves. "Ye's words make sense."

"Are you on his side?" Ye Xinglan turned to face him, lips peeling back in a sneer.

"I, I'm on your side of course!" The little fatty replied meekly.

"Xiu Ye, just you wait." Ye Xinglan narrowed her eyes. She marched right into the stadium following him.

"Big sister Xinglan, what are you doing?"

"I'm signing up to compete! He was being reasonable, huh? Perfect! I just wanted to fight him beforehand anyway, now I can beat some real reason into him on the stage as well!"

....

The event grounds were buzzing with activity. Since junior division competitors in the individual competition wielded three soul rings at most, the space provided wasn't much. Each arena spanned about thirty meters in diameter. Arranged next to each other, the rings of battle showcased dazzling duels between all sorts of martial souls and soul skills.

Xiu Ye didn't watch them, he instead used his time on deciding on how was he going to end his fight.

Not long after, the third match commenced.

Xiu Ye glanced at his number plate. According to the lots drawn yesterday, his first appearance would be in the third match in arena 13.

A soul barrier encased the circular arena so that the audience wouldn't be harmed by any stray attacks.

Although it was his first time participating in this sort of competition, Xiu Ye carried not an ounce of anxiety on his being. Instead, he walked with confidence and purpose in his steps. With a mature mind, a thousand years of memories, and all the shit he went through, competing in this level of competition just doesn't rattle him up.

His opponent soon arrived. It was a petite kid shorter than Xiu Ye. His opponent's eyes failed to hide the nervousness and anxiety running wild within.

Every arena had a referee and theirs was a middle-aged man.

"The rules are simple. You may use any means to attack without worry. I will interfere if the need arises to ensure your safety and the result will be decided when one side concedes. In the event that participants cannot or will not concede, I will judge when one side is no longer able to continue fighting. I will also judge if the gap between contenders is too great. You both have thirty seconds to prepare. I will countdown the last five seconds. You may begin preparing now."

The moment the man finished speaking, Xiu Ye's opponent summoned out his soul rings: one white and one yellow soul rings.

'...Weak.' He blankly stared at the idiot summoning out his martial soul, a machete, despite the match wasn't going to start until thirty seconds is up. He let out a sigh, 'He doesn't even have a fighting stance. He's just holding that machete like a fucking bat!'

He had to give it to his luck, one day he gets to face against one of the most powerful Deathly Hallows in existence and the next, he gets to face against probably the most weakest opponent in the entire competition.

"Five, four, three, two, one, begin!"

Xiu Ye flashed stepped in front of his opponent and delivered a sucker punch to his left cheek, sending him flying to the side; blood, saliva and a tooth spewing out as he planted face first on the ground hard.

The referee and the audience stared completely wide-eyed, dumbfounded.

What the fuck?!

"Hey ref," Xiu Ye called out, tucking his hands into his pockets, he turned to face the referee. "aren't you going to announce the winner?"

The referee finally snapped out of his thoughts. Taking a quick glance at Xiu Ye's down opponent, he faked a cough in his fist, and quickly proclaimed, "Winner by knockout!"

Thus ends Xiu Ye's first match in the individual competition knockout round.

But it didn't end just there however.

Later that afternoon, Xiu Ye and his team, Blazing Shackles, as well as Tang Wulin and his team, Golden Trio, won their respective three-man team competition rounds without any issues. It had also followed on for their five-man team competition as well in the evening.

Xiu Ye was in his room, alone, sitting in a meditation position on his bed, contemplating about life while the other guys that he shared the room with had gone out to do some late night training together with the girls.

'So I've officially broken a record. Finally, with that and the one punch moves I'd pulled in the combat competitions early on, I would surely gain a lot of attention. There's no way that Shrek wouldn't try to recruit me now.' He thought, his chin resting on his fist as he stared into space.

It was just a matter of time, and even if they don't recruit him, well, he can use his fame for something else as well.
