When William Cole awoke again, he was already lying in a hospital bed.

"You're awake?"

A familiar voice reached his ears.

"Ruth? You're alright..." William Cole immediately sat up, his wound tearing open.

"The doctor said that rest is the most important thing for you right now! Thankfully, the bullet struck the rockery first, dissipating some of its force. The bullet's momentum was reduced by at least a third when it hit you."

"Otherwise, if you had shielded me with your body, you would have been riddled with holes."

Ruth looked at William Cole: "Don't do such dangerous things in the future."
