Ruth Dawn whispered to William Cole.

"Please announce my visit. My name is William Cole, and I wish to see Mrs. Brews," William Cole stepped forward, trying to maintain a friendly tone.

But the middle-aged woman crossed her arms and with a sneering laugh, spoke disdainfully, "Hmph, don't you know your place? What makes you think any Tom, Dick, or Harry can meet Mrs. Brews?"

"What place is this?"

"Do you think Mrs. Brews is someone you can see just because you wish to?"
