Sui considered turning around and leaving, just as the other maids were now. 

No one wanted to go into Concubine Rose's chamber and ask her how she was doing.

Even the head maid who went inside was turned away by the lady because the lady wanted to rest…or so the rumour went.

Lea did not believe in the rumours; instead, she was sure that the Concubine had suffered a heavy blow, so she had locked herself in her room.

"Oi! We need to decide now. Who will go and deliver Concubine Rose her dinner? I cannot go because I have an important interview for another palace."

One of the seasoned maids quickly refused to do her job.

"You are not the only one with a job lined up in another palace. I have a job opening I need to attend as well. And that is why I cannot go either."

Another complaint was that it took little time for others to cite why they could not do this job.
