When Aliyah finally woke up, all she could see was vast blackness and all she could hear was the chirping of the crickets in the woods.
She staggered out of the carriage, remembering that she had been drugged but Malik had been there in the carriage and he quickly explained the situation to her.
"Aaron..." She said, her voice breathy, patting her hands softly against the carriage floor, searching madly for him.
When her hands touched him, she let out a long sigh of relief.
"He is here." She muttered underneath her breath, her hand creeped up to his face, underneath his nose, letting his warm breath fan her fingers. "Alive."
"The horses are tired but we need to keep running." Malik said, frustrated. "They are still coming after us." He staggered out of the carriage and Aliyah followed behind.
