Natty bit her lips, shame and regret in taking over her. "I forgot."

She had hoped it would be something else but this? It just hurt far too much.

Nancy started slowly before she leaned back into that carefree voice. The one she was obviously using as a coping mechanism.

"All those nights I got chosen over and over again, while I endured one more touch with hope that you would come. So all those nights while I waited, you forgot?"

"I'm sorry."

"How could you?" Her voice was quiet, so quiet.

"I'm sorry." Her voice was strained with tears now.

"It is not enough! It is not enough to be sorry!" Nancy swept away the tears that were now straying down her cheeks angrily. "It isn't."

She stepped further away wanting to create some distance between them.

"I can't blame you. The palace is so comfortable, you'd forget anything in there."

"No, that is not it. I didn't want anything to do with this life anymore. I wanted it to be a past, a dead memory..."
