"My buddy is not even scary," Lilith said with a soft smile, her fingers gently brushing over the skeleton's arm like she was reassuring a pet.

Ava blinked, hesitantly looking at the skeleton again. Something about Lilith's calm expression made it seem... almost normal. She nodded slowly. "Okay..." she mumbled, though her voice wasn't entirely convincing.

Suddenly, the doorbell rang, breaking the deadly silence in the room.

Nova jumped as if he had been electrocuted, quickly breaking the awkward hug with Ava. "I-I'll see who it is!" he stammered, eager to escape the presence of Lilith's 'buddy.' He hurried to the door, his nerves still rattled.
