Blake didn't know what he should do in this situation since he had never expected the humanoid demons would wait for him right near their doorsteps with their gate wide open.

Blake was prepared for a chaotic war where he, Robus, and Cyra needed to run amok and destroy as many things as possible in their sights while trying to fight the humanoid demons living inside the base, similar to what they had been doing for the past two times they ever visited a humanoid demon base.
