The room was empty, and despite repeated cleanings, one could still see the mottled bloodstains on the floor.

The wooden door made a slight noise.

Roger carefully walked into the room, his alert gaze sweeping around, but it yielded nothing.

He gently shook his head.

"It's not here," he said.

Henrik glanced at the time, "It's still early, we'll continue to wait."

Dragging over two rickety chairs from other rooms, Roger and Henrik sat facing each other in the dim room, where only their breathing could be heard.

"Could that thing sense the danger and decide not to come out again?"

Roger broke the silence.

"Evil Spirits basically act on instinct, they don't possess the cognitive abilities of the living," Henrik replied. "If it were as you say, then it's not an Evil Spirit, but a Monster Spirit."

"And a high-level Monster Spirit, at that."

At this, Roger's heart skipped a beat, as he suddenly remembered his beautiful neighbor, "Aren't there any exceptions?"
