Bab 11: Chapter 11
Seeing Tony covered in cuts and burns, Yinsen couldn't suppress his disapproval. "Yeah, yeah, I saw you fall from the sky. Can you still move?"
Tony stared at Yinsen, taken aback. "From the sky?! You mean... she flew with you? That's not fair! I want to do it too!"
Jamie came and took a glance at Tony. She rummaged through a small pouch at her waist, and tossed two bottles of potions to Yinsen. "The green one is for burns, and the white one is for bruises. Rub them on his wounds." After a moment's thought, she tossed an extra red potion. "Drink that once your injuries are treated. It should speed up the healing process."
Tony shrugged and took the red bottle while Yinsen tended to his wounds. "So, how are we getting back?"
"Koby already went ahead to pack up. Here, take this paper and burn it. Your assistant will know you're safe. She must have a plane ready by now. Mind if I tag along?" Jamie handed Tony a piece of paper.
"What?! That fast?! Can't I at least clean up a bit first?" Tony looked at his disheveled appearance, then at the neat and tidy duo
Jamie coldly refused, "Nope! We're running out of time."
Tony could only reluctantly apply the potions to himself, hoping to at least look presentable when the others arrived.
After Yinsen finished applying the potions, Tony saw that the cuts on his body were already healed. Marveling at the magical properties of the potions, he took a big gulp of the red potion and almost gagged from the taste. "Ugh! Are you tryin' to punish me? What's with this awful taste?!"
Just as Tony was about to throw up, he felt something weird in his chest. He unbuttoned his shirt and saw his makeshift arc reactor being pushed out by his muscles.
Yinsen gasped as he witnessed this. "Jamie! We gotta do something! There are tiny shrapnels near his heart! Without that device, he'll die! Hurry!"
Tony struggled to breathe and collapsed on the ground. Jamie furrowed her brow, shoving Ethan aside. "Move!" She knelt next to Tony and forcefully removed the device from his chest, causing Tony to scream in pain. It had been almost a month, and that thing had already fused with his flesh.
Jamie grabbed a vial from the pouch at her waist and dripped a few drops into the hole in Tony's chest, causing the wound to stop bleeding. She then ran a diagnostic spell on Tony's body and found foreign objects near his heart.
With Tony's blood flowing rapidly due to the healing potion, Jamie had no time to waste. She used a small silver knife to cut through the muscles, then used a bone-removing spell to remove two ribs in front of the heart. She quickly cut open the surrounding muscles, focused her mind, and used a vanishing spell to make the shrapnels disappear.
By this point, Jamie was already sweating profusely. Even though it looked simple, just using those vanishing spells alone would easily earn her an "O" in the NEWT Transfiguration exam. Those tiny shrapnels were practically invisible to the naked eye and she could only find them thanks to her diagnostic spell.
She also had to be careful about the power of the spells, as any slight increase in power could accidentally vanish a nearby blood vessel along with the shrapnel. And since the location was near the heart, who knows what else might disappear?
Once she made sure all the shrapnels were gone, Jamie cast a sterilization spell inside Tony's chest and sealed up the incision. The healing potion's effect was still present as Jamie watched the layers of muscle tissues weave themselves back together, all the way up to the skin. Aside from missing two ribs, Tony looked completely normal again.
"Come on, wake up already." Jamie muttered softly. Tony soon regained consciousness. He looked at his intact chest in astonishment, and stared wide-eyed at Jamie, who had blood on her hands. "You healed me? How much do I owe you?"
Jamie scrunched up her face, eager to wash her hands ASAP. "No need to. I made a deal with your assistant to keep you safe. I didn't know you had a wound in your chest."
Tony stayed quiet for a moment and sincerely said, "Thanks."
Jamie ignored him and called out for Koby to bring her some water. The house-elf showed up with a bowl of water, and Jamie scrubbed her hands multiple times until they were fully clean.
"I took out two of your ribs, so don't make any excessive movements." After Jamie finished washing her hands, she tossed a potion to Tony. "This will regrow your missing bones in eight hours, but it might sting a bit. Now, tell your assistant to pick us up. I don't want to stay here any longer."
Tony gingerly pressed his hand against his chest. The gaping hole was no longer there. He tried to cover his bare chest with his shirt, but it was already in tatters. Seeing Tony's predicament, Yinsen removed his own coat and handed it over.
Tony picked up the bottle and examined the clear liquid inside. He twisted off the cork and cautiously sniffed its contents.
"Just drink it already. Seriously, you're not a kid. Why are you acting all scared?!" Jamie snapped impatiently.
"The taste of the last potion is still fresh in my mind." Tony said dryly, staring sadly at his chest. 'Why am I putting myself through this?' He wondered silently, then steeled himself and downed the entire bottle in one go.
A searing fire seemed to engulf Tony's insides as the liquid rushed down his throat, scorching its way into his stomach. "What the heck is that?!" He managed to choke out, coughing uncontrollably.
"That, my friend, is Skele-Gro, made by Rubens Winks Ltd. However, this particular potion is my own personal creation. It works twice as fast." Jamie calmly explained.
"Wait, you witches are still running a business?" Tony blurted out incredulously. But before he could process this shocking information, the potion began to work its magic. A sharp, throbbing pain surged from his chest, growing stronger by the second and forcing him to release a pained groan.
