Bab 50: Nyx's Death
"Rebus," She whispered and the devil froze.
Imposter Zhong turned back towards her in slow motion. his mouth was agape and eyes wide open. "What did you say?" he whispered.
"Rebus?" Ambai said loudly. "is that your name...."
before she could finish her sentence the devil rushed over to her and hugged her tightly. "I knew it...you remember me! you remember me!" he repeated.
Ambai sighed though. this proved her conviction. this devil and the guy in her dreams were the same. and....his lover Nyx was pregnant with his child.
'Then what happened? what happened to Nyx? he kept saying that he was not able to save her. then is she really dead? is that why he is in this world? maybe Erudite is Nyx's reincarnation, maybe that's why devil came to this world,'
Thinking back imposter Zhong tried to kill her when they first met. why though?
so many questions she had no answers to. 'Miaght as well ask thsi devil itself.' sighing she patted his head.
"Rebus....I remember... the grass fields, the daffodils I remember all," she said with a sad smile. lying to him was painful but she needed to know the truth.
Imposter Zong allies Rebus gazed up at her with the most dazzling smile she had ever seen. "Yes...Nyx," he whispered.
"I remember few things but some memories are hazy. what happened after our last meeting near the lake," she recounted what happened in her dreams.
Rebus breathing became fast. with tears streaming down his beautifulr eyes, he held her palm softly kissed her veins. "that.....that bastard he hurt you and our child,"
'so Nyx...she died? who killed her?' Ambai softly patted his trembling back. "who?" she whispered.
Rebus stiffened up. "Its.... that bastard, Yuri," he said through his clenched teeth.
"Yuri? who is that?" Ambai whispered softly. she didnt want to agitate tej devil even more but...she needed answers. needed to know about how he felt about 'Her'.
The devil Rebus gazed up at her without blinking. "He is a God," he whispered.
"God!! what...what do you mean?" Ambai stuttered. then devil's lover Nyx was killed by a god. Maybe it might have been because she was involved with this Devil. The God's might have had a personal vengeance or vendetta. otherwise how could that kind looking girl be killed.
"That God Yuri, why did he..."
The devil closed her mouth suddenly. "dont utter that man's name again. I dont ever want you saying that name. he is not a god, but a fiend." he said seriously.
Ambai sighed and pushed his hands away. "Okay okay don't worry so much," she brushed him away. she didn't ask him anymore. from all the information she collected it seems like Nyx was killed by a man named Yuri. and most probably there is a eighty percent chance that Erudite really is Nyx's reincarnation. Then.....where is her soul fragment?
'Thinks have become to troublesome,' she sighed and hugged him. after knowing that Devil's lover was dead her heart settled a little. yet still, his misconceptions that she was Nyx still unsettled her.
"Zhong...no, Rebus, listen to me. Even though I can remember few things I'm still not the real Nyx. My gender is different....."
Rebus cupped her face and rapidly shook his head. "No dont say that. you are my Nyx. I don't care about your gender." he firmly said.
Ambai sighed. it was not possible to convince this guy. "No that not what I'm trying to say. In this life why don't we just live as Zhong and Erudite. Let's not think about our past," she whispered.
Even through these adversities she didn't want to let go of her first love. she tightly clung to him and breathed in his refreshing fragrance.
Tears pulled in her eyes but she quickly wiped them away.
Sighing Ambai pushed him back. "Aren't you late for your training?"
"Hmm, I heard you were sick, so I plan to skip it," He cheerfully said.
"I'm not sick, just tired. go back and attend your training otherwise Huyt will be breathing fire at all of us," she coaxed the man child.
"No, I just found you and I don't want to let go," he laid on her lap and clung tightly to her.
Her chest tightened gazing down at him. She still did not want to tell him about her secret training because she needed some 'alone time' to process her feelings.
"Stop acting like a baby and go train. if not how can you become stronger," She caressed his soft hair.
Her uncle would come pick her up soon, she didn't want him to be here when she departs.
"Rebus, you do know that I always skip training in future if there is danger how can we protect us," Ambai fake cried.
Rebus cupped her face and gazed deeply into her eyes. "If anyone dares touch my Nyx, I would make sure that even her soul doesn't survive,"
