As soon as I said these words, a fine tension filled the air. I couldn't blame them for being nervous; after all, we had no idea what awaited us on the other side of the door. Plus, we didn't have any plan for dealing with whatever might be waiting for us.

Putting that aside, I noticed a faint and almost imperceptible line of Ether emanating from behind the door. It was so subtle that, from what I could tell, the girls hadn't noticed it. Although I questioned why for a few seconds, I wasn't really looking for an answer. Still, a monotone and emotionless voice echoed in my mind.
