In the future, a deadly virus decimated over half of the human population, ushering in dark times where bodies lay abandoned in the streets as many perished. These sinister beings emerge from the shadows or the depths, resembling a mass of black smoke and specters hovering in the air, with piercing yellow eyes that draw the life force from living beings to sustain themselves in a nearly destroyed world. They feed on the essence of freshly deceased humans, and some even resort to forcibly taking it from those still alive.
The survivors are individuals with mutated genes, adapting to the changing world or succumbing to the darkness below. That is the stark reality they face.
Xu YiLin, a seventeen-year-old with the rare gift of seeing the dark entities draining the life force of living beings, becomes a target for underground monsters due to his unusually radiant aura. It is believed that by consuming a being as luminous as YiLin, these creatures can rid themselves of their curse of darkness and eventually prey on humans even in well-lit areas.
