As Elias returned home he heard his mom coughing.
"Mom?! You okay?"
He called out to her hoping for an answer but all he got in return was more coughing. His pace picked up and he found her in the bathroom coughing and throwing up blood.
"Mom? What's going on? We have to get you to the hospital!"
My moms eyes widened when she heard me say that
"NO! You can't take me to the hospital. Listen kid, I'm sick. And to be honest I probably won't make it through the night, so please don't put even more stress on us by taking me to the hospital and building up bills."
Elias for some reason got angered by her telling him that. But through that anger he realized something. Over the past 13 years, he's never seen her without her wig on, every time she coughs she puts something over her mouth, and hurries up to throw it away, and other things.
"Mom....do you have cancer?"
His mom was a little surprised by his words but remembering that he's always been a smart kid she just nodded her head, and didn't think too much.
"Mom....why didn't you say anything. You can't leave me on my own. If you abandon me I'll have no where to go and no one to go to. Please you have to stay alive for me.
Elias tried to reason through to her while holding back tears. His mom also was holding back tears as she just stared into his eyes.
"Elias, I know you're a smart kid. And I'm pretty sure you've found out who you are, and who your father is. You know you'd have a better life if you were with him."
As soon as Elias heard this his face wrinkled and distorted.
"NO! That man left you for dead here, with a child while he lives it up in his mansion, and smiles on TV! I will never live with him and I'll never love him!"
His mother only shook her head and realized he had it all wrong.
"Son, he didn't abandon you. He was drunk when we made you, and he doesn't know you exist. He probably doesn't even remember my face. I haven't even seen him in person since the day 2 months before I found out I was pregnant. I thought about telling him, I swear I did, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. I thought he would reject you and me because of the way you came to exist! It's not his fault so please don't hate him."
And just like that BOOM! Elias' whole world got it's shit rocked. This whole time he thought he had a sperm donor that abandoned him. He spent all these years hating that man, and thinking that he abandoned them, and in reality the whole reason his and her life was hard, was all because his mom was too embarrassed of the way they had sex. But even after finding this out he couldn't be mad at his mom, he was just a little disappointed. He was also regretting stealing from Bruce Wayne earlier now. Even though the reward was great the reason he did it was out of hate. Now that hate was almost gone. I mean if you hated someone for 13 years even if you find out that they didn't deserve to be hated, there is still some hatred there. Especially when you're watching your mom die. You're just mad at everyone.
Tears finally left Elias' eyes, and as they did he lost his focus, and his moms last breath finally left her body at the same time as a single tear of his hit the floor. When he finally noticed she wasn't breathing the tears started flowing even faster. He didn't let out a single sound the whole time, but the tears just kept flowing. Until he ended up falling asleep while sitting on his knees holding his moms body.
That day Elias Hale died, and Elias Wayne was the only thing left. The Son of Bruce Wayne, Brother of Damian Wayne, and last but not least the Ghost.
