"Damn it, I would rather not use that gift from the boss now, but it looks like I may not have a choice in the matter!" Diaz thought as he continued sprinting across the warehouse.
Diaz was still extremely confident that he could escape. However, knowing he may need to use a hidden trump card just to get away from some heroes without any super powers, made his skin crawl.
Suddenly, a batarang caught Diaz's cheek before flying and hitting a box. Unwilling to stop his footsteps, Diaz quickly felt his cheek and saw some of his blood on his hand. He did not know whether he should count himself lucky, or if Batman was just playing around with him.
For someone who was extremely confident just minutes earlier, Diaz now looked like a lost puppy who was trying desperately to find its owner. He remembered that the path he was taking to escape, was very well established and in his memory. But, he still felt like he was in grave danger.
However, regardless of the feeling in his stomach from seeing his own blood, Diaz continued running until he saw the turn where he wanted to go. In the corner of the warehouse Diaz was trying to run to, was a hidden passageway underground.
When coming here, Diaz spoke to the owner of the warehouse prior to this night, and this information was given to him. The owner allowed Diaz to use this warehouse as his operations hub. The warehouse had done this, because Diaz paid him very handsomely and up front for a total of six months rent!
Knowing that Diaz was someone who did business on the black market, the owner made sure to give everything to Diaz which he may need, including arranging for an underground passage to be made right before Diaz and his men moved in. By doing a little extra, the warehouse owner wanted word to spread since this was not the only place he owned.
Panting as if the devil himself was chasing after him, Diaz started to become fearful of Batman. It was not because of Batman possibly being able to capture him alive, but of his boss that would kill him for wasting his gift just to escape from someone who had no actual super powers.
Finally making it to the area with the underground passage, Diaz quickly wiped the sweat pouring from his face as his sinister smile once again was showing.
"Going somewhere?" dropping from the ceiling and blocking Diaz's path, Batman was now standing before Diaz. In this moment, Batman felt as if he had complete control of the current situation.
Whether it was because he prevented Diaz from making his escape from the warehouse, or that Damien and Batgirl were on their way over to assist him. However, something still did not feel right, because Diaz's sinister smile started to become wider as if he was planning for this to happen the entire time!
"Your smile is starting to creep me out." Batgirl called out as she appeared around the corner with Damien running just a little behind her.
"Are you Joker's cousin or something?" Damien yelled out in annoyance. If it was not for being distracted from Bubba and Batman's fight, he wouldn't have gotten injured and may have been able to even capture Diaz before he was able to try to escape.
