Bab 43: Supposed To Be Dead

In the blink of an eye, the scene descended into utter chaos.

"AH—!" With a terrified shriek, Yi Caishen dropped the tray, causing the glasses to shatter and juice to splatter across the floor. 

Ma Boliu, who was caught off guard, snapped back to his senses upon hearing the scream and lunged forward, grabbing the Chief's bony thin wrist in a desperate attempt to pry him off. "Dad, what are you doing?!" he cried out in panic. Despite having exerted all of his strength, he was still unable to tear the Chief's grasp away, as it felt like the one he was holding wasn't an elderly's fragile hand but a piece of hard steel! 

"Urgh—!" Chen Ru choked, his face flushed red due to the lack of oxygen. Tears filled his eyes as he struggled to gasp for breath, his feet dangling off the ground. "H–He… lp…"
