Kalliēl's eyes shook beneath his wings. 

All the pain and torment, the scorn and anguish Rui Ye had to endure… was because of him? Would Rui Ye's life have gone smoother if he hadn't been there in the first place? 

Kalliēl's mind became tangled like a messy ball of yarn, and he could not seem to unravel it no matter how hard he tried. He even thought that it was good that he was prohibited from visiting the mortal realm, or else he would not know how to face the little one. 

He had naïvely thought that everything he did was for Rui Ye's sake, that he must not ruin the future destiny had stored for him, but what if… what if his presence exacerbated the situation instead? This was a prospect he had never considered before— or maybe he didn't dare to. Because he would not know what to do if it's proven correct. But unfortunately, the circumstances would not simply turn for the better whether he acknowledged his mistakes or not.
