Bab 169: Final Message

"...What?" Song Zhuyu whispered, taken aback. His mind raced as he quickly connected the sequence of cause and effect. The demon's target should be him and him alone, and the fact that it had personally intervened to drive Chen Ru to his death must mean that… whatever the young man had discovered was crucial! 

Song Zhuyu's gaze sharpened as he came to that conclusion. "What do you mean by that? Exactly what have you seen, Chen Ru?" he inquired further. 

"I saw…" Chen Ru's gaze drifted past him toward the village, his lips trembling. "I saw them in agony as they begged for mercy. I saw them all burning in the sea of flames and blood. That's why," his eyes locked onto Song Zhuyu's as he cautioned seriously, "Run, Father Song. Run away from this place and save yourself. Don't be like me…"
