Bab 69: Chapter 69 - Magic Creature - Corpses
After about four hours, three different kinds of corpses were put in front of Skalain.
Skalain, who had purchased a book of bestiaries for the current area, had some sort of information on the creatures that skeletons hunt.
"So, we lost five of the skeletons while hunting these three. Five of them are killed by only one of them, which is a level two magical creature, as expected."
The first creature looked like a crocodile. It was just huge and had more robust and longer legs, which let it run on the ground and swim faster on the lakes. Its name was Beast Crocodile, which suits it perfectly, and its level was only one.
The second creature was a bird-type creature, a crow-like creature, but the size of a small lioness. It was also a level one creature, and it used the air element and air magic to fly as its body alone could not handle the weight and flying at the same time. Its name was Crow King.
The important one was the last creature.
"So you are the one who destroyed five of my skeletons."
Skalain looked at the cat-like creature. The creature was small, only about the size of an ordinary house cat on Earth. The fur of the creature was pure black, and from the looks of it, its eyes are too black. It is called Shadow Cat, and it was a level two creature, which means it has at least three special abilities similar to magic spells.
A creature like this would make quick work of an amateur mage, and for hunting it, at least three mages at the level of Ezekiel are needed.
"It seems like this creature has an innate connection with Shadow Magic."
Skalain had seen the remnants of knowledge about Shadow Magic in the book Dark Archive from time to time.
There is not much knowledge existing beside some simple knowledge, such as that it belongs to the family of dark magic and is the bane of the light mages.
It also has some connection to air magic, or curse magic. In a simple sense, it is the mysterious side of mages and magic.
"For the time being, let's try dissecting and working on these corpses So I will have a better understanding."
Skalain then started using tools to cut and dissect all the corpses. He can order Skeletons to do these things for themselves, but he will not, as it would not make sense for him to do something like this in the sense that it would just make him lazy.
He wants to know and understand how things work, not finish things quickly. While he has time, he should do these things even more.
As a necromancer or an aspiring necromancer, these kinds of things are one of the most important things that he needs to do alone without any kind of interference if he wants to learn for real.
Seven hours passed in a flash, and Skalain immersed himself in the moment of understanding the bodies of the first two creatures.
He left the Shadow Cat to the last, as he believed that there would be no problem in
