Every day at Wushan Temple, Qiao Wei woke up at dawn. After he washed his face and got dressed, he joined the abbots at morning prayer. After the prayer came the breakfast -- sometimes alone, sometimes with his martial art brothers and sisters, and sometimes with his shizun.

Qiao Wei's face hardened, defiance replacing the drowsy haze.
