  In the Ziviel Kingdom, King Thress sat in the throne room and waited for his high-ranking officials to respond to his summon.

He thought about the task he had sent Mabli on. He hoped that she would be successful and bring back the information that he needed from the lady in the Predor Kingdom. Thress was aware of some kind of smartness that Mabil had. He could see it in her eyes. He could see when the wheels spun and turned when they talked during those nights he would call her over into his chambers. There was something about the girl and it served as a mystery to him. Perhaps that was why he was quite drawn to her. Perhaps she had some kind of darkness that appealed to him and that was why he had sent the others away. The other concubines that he had been keeping — he had sent them away. They were simpletons and he wanted nothing to do with them.
