Faith had Harper riding on her shoulders, heading back to the main house when Hunter finally came to the guest house. He stepped in shaking off the rain. Grace was saying goodnight to Eve when she saw the big black eye he was nursing with a pack of ice.
Faith bounced Harper, making the little girl giggle, as Hunter's heart warm with pride seeing his baby girl so happy. "Where are you running off to, baby girl?"
"Sleepover with Auntie Faith. We make a pillow fort with Grandpa, Daddy."
"A fort. That sounds awesome. Aunt Faith and Grandpa make the best sleepover forts." Kissing his cheek, he added, "Have fun and don't stay up too late. Faith, no sweets. We need to keep her sugar levels in check."
"Love you, Daddy."
"Love you too, pumpkin."
Stepping up to him, Grace got a better look at his eye as Faith walked out with Harper. "He got you good, huh?"
Hunter just rolled his eyes. "He hits like a girl. It was a lucky shot."
