Bab 7: Rush to the Hut

From the dark and mysterious cave came out two figures on their feet. They ran mindlessly without having one path to follow. They ended up getting far from each other. Thank goodness Rick noticed and called out Riley before they lost each other.

"Hey Riley! Over here!"

Riley heard his friend's call and changed direction. He followed where Rick was heading, the thick forest they went before. He ran as fast as he could but couldn't catch up with Rick. When he entered the forest, he was clueless about where to go or where Rick went. He wanted to step back out of the forest but the monsters from the cave were getting closer to the forest. He began panicking as the monsters kept on walking without turning back. Without his knowing, a hand grabbed him and pulled him over. The hand covered Riley's mouth as soon as Riley was seated.

Riley was shocked by the sudden attack. After struggling from the attacker, he finally noticed the attacker. It was Rick! He wasn't attacking, what Riley thought earlier, he was trying to hide themselves from the monsters.

"Shh... I'll get us out of here, quietly."

After a zombie with a golden spade left them without noticing, the two got out of their hiding place and muted their steps. They try their best to avoid the monsters lurking spots.

"The hut is that way," whispered Rick after reading the compass.

The two continued to tiptoe to the direction their compass is showing. Everything seems to be going fine at the time. But when they thought they were out of the monsters vision, a piercing arrow proved them wrong.

A chill ran down Riley's spine as the object flew by him. He audibly swallowed the saliva in his mouth from the shock. The arrow nearly hit him in his head. He could have been a goner if it hit him. Turning his head with shivers, he took a look at where the deadly attack came from to know who fired it. The skeleton positioning itself for another shot met eyes with its prey.

It was then Riley knew, he's dead.

Rick noticing the incident that was happening at his back had no choice now. He shouted, "Run!" and sprinted as fast as he could, keeping the lead.

Riley, with the shivers from the skeleton's glare, ran at full speed following Rick from behind. Rick got out his sword and slashed out all of the zombies that were blocking their path. One by one arrows were seen coming from behind them. It didn't make its way to their flesh as the two used the thick forest full with trees to blur their aim and lessen their chance of getting a hit.

Luck isn't always gonna be on their side. The two saw a lighten area in their front path. It gave them a slight relieve. The both hurried to the light source, it could be torches that was placed by their friends around the dirt hut to lighten up the space. It looked as if everything was gonna be all fine, but at last a shot hit Rick and downed him to the ground. The arrow pierced his legs.

Riley, almost passing Rick, stopped from running and tried to help his friend to get up. But arrows from the skeletons didn't allow him to do so.

"Go! Just leave me!"

"But..."

His sentence was cut off by an arrow passing right in front of his very eyes. "Whoa!" he backed off. But he didn't gave up on saving Rick. The arrow's threat wasn't enough to tremble his bravery. He stubbornly took his friend's arm and put it around his neck, letting Rick walk properly with the help of him. Without fear of the threat behind, he walked with courage as if death was the one afraid of him.

The skeletons chuckled as they looked at Riley's foolishness. One of them pulled the string and fixed an aim at the two helpless friends while the others relaxed their arms and watched. The skeleton took its time for the next shot, intending make it perfectly accurate. It didn't care if it took a long time to aim. What's the hurry when their targets are at a disadvantage. They can't get away now.

As their snobbery and arrogance controlled them, an arrow danced in the wind and struck one of the skeletons head to pieces. The shocked skeleton aiming at its prey was frightened. But before the skeleton could do anything else, an arrow showed no mercy to it as well. The other skeletons wouldn't be standing still after seeing both of their friends defeated. They got their bows and took out their arrows. Stretching the strings to their head, they find the attacker but couldn't. They felt weird for about this. Didn't somebody shot their friends.

Quietly in an unknown spot, the cunning marksman grinned. As soon she noticed an opening unveil, the girl leaves her hiding place and quicker than lightning did she fired the two arrows that killed the rest of the skeletons. The skeleton was at her mercy, but she did not gave any sympathy for harming her friends.

"Wow! That was just enough arrows," she stated.

The two kept on walking as fast as they could to keep themselves away from the zombies. Dramatically, the zombies yawned for their flesh as they 'run' to catch the two. The two forced out extra energies to get to the hut before the zombies are able to have dinner. Then in front of the door came out a boy they knew, the boy with his name unknown.

"Hey, we got guests tonight. Come in, come in!" he joked. Well that was a perfect time to laugh.

"Shut up and help us," Rick growled.

"Well that was a polite way to ask for help," he glared dead.

He went to the zombies that were coming and stabbed them with his stone sword. His eyes were unemotional as he repeatedly stabbed them. Even being a zombie, looking at the boys eyes was a nightmare. His blooded glare scared them, leaving them no option but to retreat.

He slowly walked backwards while inspecting the area. The place is now clear. He got out his wooden door from his inventory and placed it at the empty space in front of him, finishing the building.

"Well, that was frightening," he claimed calmly, not showing truth in his statement.

"Hey!" Rick shouted as he pulled him. "You could've got us killed out there, ya know!"

"What? Scorned by my words? It's just a couple of words, what harm could it do?" he questioned.

"YOU BRAT!" A punch was finally given to his face.

He was thrown to the wall. "Ouch! That hurts," he taunted although it actually gave him pain.

"You really don't have a heart, huh?" Rick spoke with his fist up in the air for another blow.

"Stop it!" Riley interfered.

"What's gotten in you two?"

"I got a punch," he joked again.

"You shut right there!" Riley demand.

His eyes widened. "huh..."

Riley turned to Rick. "Hey, you know he didn't meant it," Riley generated an excuse.

"A kid like that? He probably doesn't even have a life," Rick mocked.

The boy bowed his head. 'Life, huh? I always felt it. But you guys, you don't even understand what life really is. You only tasted the beautiful lies life shows you while hiding the painful truth behind. That's why you all smile, smiling at some lies you believed. Pathetic.'

"Hey! Why so quiet?! Hurt from some simple words?!" Rick questioned him.

"Heh, I'm just laughing at..." his words were cut off by a sudden visit at the door.

"Hey, what's with the commotion here?" asked a figure that came in from the door.
