Isabel Smith sat to one side, her heart feeling slightly at ease. She admired Percy Stanton's ability to use the recent questioning of Carla Osbert and Evelyn Osbert about her and Percy's relationship as an excuse for the current situation. She was relieved that Percy hadn't agreed to let Evelyn be his boss.

In fact, Isabel didn't know that Percy had his own plans. He didn't know what deep hatred had occurred between her and Sebastian Smith's family, but he could see that Carla Osbert and Evelyn Osbert were not friendly towards Isabel.
