"Wu Zhitian?" Yu Xuelan called out with hints of uncertainty.
The figure walked closer and threw the rat demon onto the ground before it dissipated into thin air. As he walked closer, Yu Xuelan's eyes were glued to the black-hooded man.
"What, what are you doing here?!" Bo Fan exclaimed as his grip on Yu Xuelan's hair slowly loosened.
The black-clad girl examined him from head to toe and still thought the person resembled Wu Zhitian quite a lot. However, they wore a long, black hooded robe across their head that covered most of their eyes.
"Wu Zhitian...?"
She looked at the hilt of the sword. It was the same, yet it was also different; it wasn't the Fu Shi De she knew, but maybe it was. Maybe after losing so much blood that her vision got blurred and she couldn't distinguish the details of objects anymore.
Maybe the one she saw on Wu Zhitian before was never Fu Shi De all along, and the one he had now been the real one.
As weird as it may sound, she was so sure it was Wu Zhitian because she recognized those hands.
And those...
"And those what? No, no, no. Stop your mind from running right now," she cursed in her thoughts.
The man pointed his sword at the demon who still held onto Yu Xuelan by her hair. She noticed Bo Fan had stopped blabbering like usual, and instead, his eyes were extremely narrowed down as he bared his teeth out, clenching his jaw hard.
"What the fuck are you doing in my territory again?!" He yelled and continued yanking Yu Xuelan's hair.
"Young Master, I think I will be bald soon," Yu Xuelan whined, "I don't think I look good bald."
The black-hooded boy stepped forwards and seethed, "Let her go. Now."
His voice was deeper and raspier than usual, though there wasn't that much of a difference.
"You! You're related to him?! Why are you involved with so many troublesome people?!" Bo Fan stuttered in rage as he looked at the girl.
"I think we have different parents, though?" Yu Xuelan said in puzzlement.
He turned back to the black-hooded boy and scolded, "To think you're prancing around my lair after destroying my previous one! You even fucking dispelled away all my demonic energy at Yang Forest as well!"
Wu Zhitian walked closer to Bo Fan. Each step he made was quiet and light, as though he were nothing but a feather flying above a lake. He raised his palm and a sharp beam pierced the air towards the demon.
Alerted, Bo Fan instantly grabbed Yu Xuelan to use her as a shield against the attack. The moment the slash was about to plunge towards her, it passed through her like she was never there and pierced the demon in half.
"YOU BITCH!" Bo Fan yelled, as his body was now in two separate halves.
Yu Xuelan wiggled her way away from the demon, but his arm grabbed onto her ankle, piercing his nails back into the wounded area from before.
"Don't think you can run away!" He exclaimed.
Wu Zhitian raised his brows and stomped on the arm, crushing it into pieces. Soon, it dissipated into thin air, just like the rat demon.
"You! If I knew you were with him, I would've eaten you on the spot! No wonder that fish bastard wanted you dead!" He laughed maniacally, but Wu Zhitian ignored his words.
Wu Zhitian bent down to Yu Xuelan and broke the spiritual chains that bound her.
"Thank you," she said.
"Are you alright?" He asked worriedly.
Although she still felt a bit embarrassed making eye contact with him, she had trained in controlling what emotion she wanted to depict on the surface of her face for a long time. So none of that panic and redness appeared before Wu Zhitian.
"No! He scared me to death! I was going to be used for labour and then get eaten in hot-pot!" Yu Xuelan exclaimed, showing exaggerated hand gestures and facial expressions.
Wu Zhitian turned back to the segmented demon, who was laughing hysterically. His eyes were devoid of any sort of light, failing to give an impression of a living being. Just as he was about to grab the demon, Yu Xuelan grabbed onto his sleeves.
"Even if you kill this body, I can just make another one!!" Bo Fan exclaimed, "I will kill you. I will kill you. I will kill you. I will kill you and HaiShen Yu!!"
"There's something I need to do with him first. You can do whatever you want with him afterwards," Yu Xuelan said.
His face slowly relaxed after shifting his gaze to her instead of the demon. She walked towards Bo Fan and crouched down.
"Hey, you tramp! I thought you were a cultivator? What the heck are you doing with someone like him?!"
"Someone like him?" Yu Xuelan muttered.
"Don't tell me you're oblivious to what he really is?!" He laughed and squirmed around until his laughs drifted off, transforming into rage.
"In case you don't know, let me tell you! I heard he was blending in with the human world, but I never knew it was true!"
Even though his body was split in half and one hand was missing, his laughs did not falter a single bit.
"THAT MAN STANDING BESIDE YOU!" Bo Fan yelled and the more he spoke, Wu Zhitian glared at him to shut his mouth.
"THAT MAN IS —
Yu Xuelan plunged her arm into his throat, smashing him into the ground as his teeth bit deeply into her skin, grazing her entire arm.
Wu Zhitian flinched. Not because he was surprised by her actions, but seeing her arm filled with deep lacerations being cut even more made his heart tighten.
Yet, none of them hurt. It was all numb.
Yu Xuelan smiled, "You sure talk a lot."
Although Bo Fan had become a lump of flesh lying lifeless on the ground, he jolted upon seeing the girl's twisted smile.
"But the information you told me was quite amusing!" Yu Xuelan chuckled.
Although demons were already dead, it didn't mean they couldn't feel any pain at all. They could still experience pain, though they had a higher pain tolerance than humans. The higher the rank of a demon, the higher their pain tolerance was, which also applied to cultivators.
Yu Xuelan stood back up and gazed at her arm, which was covered with deep wounds all around, bleeding non-stop.
Wu Zhitian's surroundings become a blur the more he stared at Yu Xuelan's bleeding arm. Just when he was about to hurriedly walk forwards to check on her, Yu Xuelan turned around with a smile, showing him her arm that Bo Fan had bitten and dug his nails into many times.
It was all healed.
Her arm that had her wrists cut by the handcuffs, stabbed into by razor-sharp teeth by the demon monkey, and pierced by the Demon God's teeth and nails, all those deep cuts had all been healed.
"What... the fuck is going on...?" the lump of flesh muttered, still lying on the ground without a proper form.
"You! You! Don't tell me! You're Yin An-"
Before Bo Fan could finish his sentence, Wu Zhitian sliced the demon as he dissipated into ashes completely.
"Why do people keep saying I'm the Water Demon God? We don't even look alike," Yu Xuelan said and scratched her neck.
She stared at the ashes that were scattered in the breeze. Even if the body of a Demon God disappeared, they could just make another one. So Xuelan didn't feel that pitiful.
The interior of the room changed shape and appearance. Instead of some royal-looking room, it was just an old shack. She looked back and ran out of the "room", only to see it was just a run-down hut in the middle of the mountain forest.
The hallway, prison cell, dining room, everything was just an illusion or rather, an extremely realistic image created by Bo Fan.
Before she turned around, Wu Zhitian had changed back to his former appearance with his usual white robes.
"Wu Zhitian, are you alright?"
He nodded.
"You're not hurt, are you?" She worried and held his arm up. "I thought you would've had your face buried underground!"
Wu Zhitian stared irritably at her arm that had supposedly healed itself.
"Sorry. I just wanted to try something. But it seems like my original core is slowly recovering faster than I thought because of it!" Yu Xuelan beamed and waved her arm around.
During the attack, Yu Xuelan had forced Bo Fan to release the demonic energy from his killing intent inside of her meridians. Seeing as how he was a Demon God, his levels of demonic and spiritual energy should be high even though he was labelled to be one of the weakest ones.
Yu Xuelan's own original spiritual core reacted in unity with the foreign energy, which increased the speed of recovering her own core.
Being trapped in the demonic realm for six months had caused her spiritual roots to adapt to the demonic energy it constantly exposed her to.
Even with her core adapting to the energy in the demonic realm, she had never once in her life cultivated with demonic energy. She didn't even know how to, so she didn't understand why people labelled her as a demon.
Yu Xuelan was guilty that Lin Yuhe's spiritual core was slowly disintegrating, but the whole reason the girl used her body as a sacrifice was that she didn't want to live anymore, so there was no point in keeping her spiritual core intact.
"My regenerative abilities are slowly coming back," Yu Xuelan rejoiced.
Despite the girl's happiness, the boy only looked extremely aggravated. There was a knot churning inside of him as an indescribable feeling started arising within him the more he stared at her arm.
