Bab 38: I’ve Been Imprisoned
They walked past the graveyard Long Rei was talking about, yet none of the limbs were screaming like the last one.
"Lin Changying is over there," Wu Zhitian spoke and walked through the yard.
Yu Xuelan followed him while inspecting the area.
The moment she drifted off from the graveyard, her entire surroundings gradually became dark.
Everything began blurring into one colour and she could no longer distinguish the muffles of indescribable noises.
Her clear vision shifted into pitch black, and her entire body felt weak. She attempted to keep her stance while attempting to support her head with her hand until she felt extremely light-headed.
She heard the boy muttering something from in front. However, she could not understand what he was saying.
"Wasn't Wu Zhitian behind me?"
Her knees weakened, causing her to fall onto one knee, and soon she collapsed.
Falling unconscious.

"We got three big catches today! Do you think it'll be enough for the Young Master?"
"Yes! We've collected enough for five cages and all these women match his type!"
"But I think two of them looked the same."
"How would you know? You have no eyes!"
"Shut up!"

Yu Xuelan groaned as she attempted to lift her eyelids, rubbing her face with her hand that was filled with a harsh, earthy substance.
She tried to adjust her vision to the unfamiliar view. Only to see herself in a cage.
Yu Xuelan, "..."
She laughed at herself, thinking "To think I already knew this demon god uses hallucination to lure people in, yet I completely disregarded this when I entered the forest."
Yu Xuelan let out a sigh and slapped her forehead as she thought about how pathetic she was. The other people in the cage looked at her in confusion.
Their hair was all messed up and their clothes were dirty and crinkled, producing the impression that they'd been in this cage for years, trying to crawl their way out with hands filled with calluses, blood, and dirt.
Yu Xuelan nodded in apology.
She peered around and saw two other people in the cage and unsurprisingly; both of them were women. It seemed like they were underground, as dirt and soil surrounded the ground and walls.
There were also five more cages outside, each placed next to each other with a gap, so it formed a circular shape.
Yu Xuelan attempted to look at the other cages to see if Lin Changying or Long Wen were there, but the darkness of the dungeon ultimately prevented her from seeing anything.
Instead, the girl closed her eyes and listened to her surrounding carefully, but to her disappointment, all she heard were a variety of cries and groans from the other women and none of them was from Lin Changying.
Yu Xuelan lifted her eyelids and wriggled herself towards a short-haired girl.
"Excuse me, miss."
The maiden glanced over with her eyes clouded in darkness, like her consciousness had drifted off somewhere else, leaving only an empty shell of skin. Yu Xuelan didn't know whether to shut her mouth or keep going after seeing how grim the girl looked.
She cleared her throat. "Have you seen a girl who looks like me?"
"I don't know. Are you talking about yourself?" The girl replied.
"Ah, you see, my twin sister is here. I think."
"Well, if she's here, then there's no point in looking for her. We're all going to die, anyway," the girl solemnly replied.
Wow! That's dark.
The other one with long dishevelled stared at the ground playing with the dirt and she seemed to be around the same age as the short-haired girl.
"How long have you two been in here?" Yu Xuelan asked curiously.
"Us two have been here for seven months," the girl replied. "But some of the others have probably been here for over a year."
"What? Over a year?"
"Yeah, he's making sure we're ripe enough to eat."
Yu Xuelan nodded slowly and flung her back onto the wall, contemplating this unfortunate situation she had gotten herself into.
She wondered what the girl meant by ripe. Perhaps the Earth Demon God was feeding them a lot of food, so they became fatter?
The timid young girl kept darting her eyes back and forth at Xuelan, attempting to steal glances at her secretly. Yu Xuelan already noticed the shy girl who kept looking back and replied to those glances by offering a gentle smile.
Without hesitating, the girl flinched and instantly looked back at the ground.
"Is my smile that scary?" she thought.
In response to this, Yu Xuelan cleaned her face once again in case there was still dirt on her before looking outside the cage. To her expectations, two demons entered the dungeon, their shapes resembling the form of a monkey.
One had eyes and one was missing their eyes. They were holding onto a girl who was screaming and crying, waving her arms around in an attempt to break free from their grasp.
Despite all the noise and ruckus the girl caused, the two monkey demons ignored her cries and continued with their conversation.
"Oh man, the Young Master is going to give us such a big reward! We even captured the daughter of the Zheng Long Sect!" One said.
"The Young Master is even keeping her in a special cage," the other replied.
Now that she found out neither Long Wen nor Lin Changying was here, she had to plan a way to leave this area without causing a ruckus.
The two demons unlocked the cage and chucked the squirming girl in. Although she was crying so loudly that it almost caused Yu Xuelan's ears to bleed, no one seemed to bat a single eye at the girl.
"Ah, just shut up! Shut up! Shut up!" The blind demon yelled, shaking the bars of the cage in annoyance before emitting out a wave of demonic energy, causing the other girls to tremble with their fearful aura.
At once, the girl instantly closed her mouth, and her body trembled, shrivelling back into the corner.
"Stop, you can't harm these women. They belong to the Young Master." The demon cautioned and dragged his partner back to the entrance, "The Young Master is calling us and it's not like these girls can do anything anyway, let's go."
After making sure the two demons left, Yu Xuelan smiled and crawled back to her position. Judging by the level of killing intent, it was weak, so the demons were probably just a Counter rank, meaning it would be quite easy to get rid of them.
"Do you know how many people used to be here in this cage?" Yu Xuelan asked which made the two girls flinch.
"There used to be twenty people in this cage but now there's only four, including you, who just came today," the short-haired girl replied.
If you are thinking of escaping, please don't. It would only put you in more danger." She added, "Even skilled cultivators can't come and help us. Because this is the Earth Demon God's lair."
"We are destined to die."
