Granny's train of thought was halted by Mariano's voice, asking Iris to leave the kitchen because she was already finished eating her meal. She stood up from her chair and said. "Wait." 

She could not explain why she likes her. Maybe because she reminded her of her own daughter. 

She hasn't seen her daughter for many years, it was safe to say that she had abandoned her after feeding her lie after lie. She had to. She didn't have much of a choice. It was the only way because when she found out about Karl's plan, she panicked and realized that she loved another human being other than herself. 

"Here, drink this and make sure to lie down for a few minutes after Mariano takes your blood," she said, handing her a can of orange juice.
