Bab 38: Genryujin vs Kenpachi

(Third Person POV)
"We should interfere." Byakuya said, "Now that it's come to this...."
Ukitake nodded, "I know." He said, "But.....I've known Genryujing far longer than you, I know how he is. Right now, he's at the most dangerous. He's angry and in the middle of a fight...."
As he said that, Genryujin and Kenpachi clashed. The 11th Division Captain had swung his sword viciously at the Sword God as the impact of the clashing created a massive shockwave that hit the two captains, causing their haoris to ripple in the wind.
"All we'll do is get caught in the crossfire..." Ukitake said, "Let's wait until Genryujin calms Captain Kenpachi down.....that is the only way. Knowing him, he'll want to finish this as quickly as possible for him to pursue Aizen."
"The best thing, however...." Byakuya said, "Now that I think about it, is to keep him stalled for Captain Unohana to figure out what's going on."
"Agreed." Ukitake said
Back to the fight, Kenpachi pulled back a few steps and swung his sword at him again, only for Genryujin to deflect it with ease.
In a split-second, he countered with various slashes, cutting through his body and causing several explosions of black flames.
"Ah!" Kenpachi said with a smirk, "How strange!! Your blade feels warm but cold at the same time! I never thought your zanpakuto was like this, Genryujin!!!"
Kenpachi was unfazed by the attack, much to Genryujin's surprise. The Sword God was purposely holding back his Zanpakuto's power, despite him breaking off his eyepatch's seal.
"Tch..." Genryujin said
"A blade made out of pure fire....honed like an actual iron....." Kenpachi said as he patted his kimono, "The moment it made contact with my flesh, it phased through. It didn't not cut....is this because of your ability? Hehe.....that's weird...Out of all the Zanpakuto I've fought, why is yours the one that's making me think?"
Kenpachi released a fierce golden aura, causing the ground to tremble violently. He was smirking and cackling with nothing but pure joy, enjoying the sensation of facing off with someone as powerful as Genryujin.
"You...." Genryujin said, "I shouldn't be so stupid, Zaraki, Here I thought the centuries has dulled your power...You've always been strong."
He assumed a stance and was covered in his black flames, giving Kenpachi a vicious and firm look.
"You're the one that gave my Retsu her scar....." He thought to himself
Kenpachi looked at him, "You know, right?" He said, "That the only one I have always wanted to fight was you! Back when we first met, you nearly killed me!! Using nothing but your sword skill, where is that Sword God?! That fierce killer that etched his bloodlust into me?! He's nowhere to be seen!!!!"
Kenpachi disappeared, surprising Genryujing with his speed.
"Shit." Genryujin said as he narrowly avoided Kenpachi's blade, deflecting the follow-up swings
He stepped back and raised his blade using both hands, in a high stance. Then, swiftly, he swung it down at Kenpachi who came into range. The Captain used his sword to block the attack but was surprised to see that the flame-blade phased through his own and struck him in the shoulder, cutting him deeply.
"Huh?" Kenpachi said with a bit of surprised, "Is...."
Genryujin then pulled his sword out as blood poured out of the sudden wound caused by his blade. This surprised Byakuya, who was already sure that his flame-blade was only causing combustions.
"His blade cut him?" Byakuya said
"Genryujin can control Hinshin no Jotei's properties with ease." Ukitake explained, "The blade can be as solid as normal, even harder and nearly indestructible. Then, it can be intangible as it is made out of actual flames. When cut, you don't know what you'll expect, either the combustions or actual cutting wound..."
"That's...." Byakuya said
"A bit terrifying." Ukitake nodded, "Especially since it's Genryujin. Besides the Captain-Commander, nobody was able to keep up with him back in the days of the War."
"I always knew Genryujin was strong, but to think that his power would be this troublesome." Byakuya said
"That's his 'Purify' command." Byakuya said, "That is not his Shikai's stronger form. This is him holding back."
Byakuya looked at him with a surprised look, "What did you say?"
"Out of every Shinigami that has existed in History." Ukitake said, "There have been few, that I know of, that are capable of this. Genryujin's Shikai has two releases, the one you're seeing right now and the real reason it was Banned by Central 46. This is-"
"Shut the fuck up!!!" Kenpachi snapped at him
Ukitake looked at him with a surprised face, the Kenpachi was looking at him with an annoyed look.
"What's wrong?" Genryujin said, "Getting annoyed?"
"All these flies buzzing around." Kenpachi said as he raised his sword, "It takes the fun right out of this, Genryujin!"
"I don't care." Genryujin suddenly rushed past him
In that split-second, he had swung his blade multiple times at Kenpachi, cutting him and causing blood to splurt out of his instant wounds.
"Shit...." Kenpachi said as he was caught off-guard
He then turned around and swung his sword at him, only for Genryujin to block it, causing a shockwave.
His blade was solid now.
Then, as Kenpachi added a bit of strength to the blade, attempting to push through, he saw as the flame-blade phased through.
"Dammit!" He said as Genryujin suddenly swung his blade towards
Kenpachi was then cut in the chest yet again, causing blood to pour out more violently.
"Hm." Genryujin said as he backed away
He did this because Kenpachi had already swung at him, the blade narrowly missing his face.
"I'm starting to catch on to you...." Kenpachi said, "I always knew you were a crafty fucker...I'm doing my best to reinforce my body with Reiatsu, yet you're cutting me up like nothing, Genryujin!"
"Enough." Genryujin said as he assumed an Iai stance
"Dying Flame Cross"
In that instant, Genryujin drew his blade and swung his blade twice. He did it with such speed that the trail of flames that resulted from the swing gave off the shape of a distorted cross. The attack hit Kenpachi in the chest as it burst in flames, sending him flying back.
"Genryujin!" Ukitake exclaimed, "You....!!"
"Relax." Genryujin said, "He won't die."
Kenpachi hit the ground hard, the wounds he had received prior to that attack bursting violently with black flames.
"Agghh....." Kenpachi groaned, "What the hell is this?? My power....it's fading...."
Genryujin waved his sword, deactivating his Shikai. His sword was now in its sealed state as he sheathed it.
"Get purified, Zaraki." Genryujin said seriously, "You're a monster, though. When affected by my purifying flames, one normally fades into a deep sleep. You don't seem like you're drowsy..."
Kenpachi glared at him, "I can't move, you bastard..." He growled
"For a couple of minutes, at most." Genryujin said, "I'm gonna go ahead."
"Follow me and I'll cut you again."
