A life before Caleb is a life I don't like to remember, yet it is as much a part of me as he is.

When the person in front of me finally spat out the words that had been struggling to come out of his mouth for the last minute or so, my mind went blank. For a minute, I didn't say anything, for fear that the second I opened my mouth, an ear-splitting scream would escape my lips—something that I would no doubt be doing if I wasn't in the company of about twenty people who were in that library.

You see, I absolutely despised attention, and any form of it given my way would result in the excessive production of my sweat glands, the sudden shaking of my lanky limbs, and just about anything else you could think of that would conclude with my utter embarrassment.
