Bab 296: Stay on your feet

As the words "Rogue demons are in approach" hung in front of me, I felt a strange mix of annoyance and defiance flicker through me. Rogue demons?

I'd dealt with them before—feral, chaotic creatures that lacked the control and power of real demons.

I wasn't afraid, not of them. My focus snapped back to Ciara, her purple flames swirling with deadly intent, and I let my own blue flames flare in response, ignoring the warning.

But then came the explosion. A deafening, ground-shaking boom that tore through the arena, disrupting the clash of flames between Ciara and me.

I turned instinctively, eyes searching for the source, and what I saw made my stomach twist.

The rogue demons that poured into the arena were unlike any I had ever encountered before.
