Bab 164: Getting handsy

VALENCIA'S POV

I quickly got up and started running in a random direction to protect myself from the beast who was following me. No, I wasn't talking about the Jaguar. I was talking about the beast alpha. My heart almost felt like it would leap into my mouth. 

As I turned around a tree, knowing it would lead me to my lake house, I bumped into one man I didn't expect to stand before me so soon. 

"In a hurry, sweetheart?" Maverick looked at me.

I looked at him wide-eyed. I don't know if it was because he was chasing my cat form, and it brought out his predatory side, but the way he was looking at me indeed made it look like I was his next meal, and I wasn't saying it sexually at all. 

"Alpha Maverick, what a pleasant surprise," I said, clapping my hands to make it look like I had no idea he was chasing me a few minutes earlier.
