Bab 388: The Anomaly of the Eighteenth Level of the Dungeon

The atmosphere of the seventeenth level of the dungeon was not much different from that of the sixteenth level. It was still a scorching volcanic cave, as before. The monsters on this level were only slightly more powerful than those on the sixteenth level. Moreover, there was no guardian beast at the door, allowing Arias and his group to easily conquer the seventeenth level.

However, when they opened the door to the eighteenth level of the dungeon, they encountered the most peculiar situation they had seen since entering this dungeon. The eighteenth level was almost devoid of monsters. Furthermore, the creatures that did inhabit this level had behaviors that starkly contrasted with those of the beasts in the previous levels. They were timid and paranoid. As soon as they spotted the intruders, they immediately fled.
