“Fuck!” Chris hissed but instantly took up a fighting stance. Jack quickly grabbed my arm and pulled me behind him. I gasped, desperately trying to reach out for Pax---

But she was gone!

To my horror, I saw her in front of the wolves, as Chris desperately tried to reach for her. Something bright gleamed in the dim light, but nobody really noticed. Just like nobody really heard the sound of glass hitting the ground…

We were all too focused on the wolves storming toward us…

“Spineless bastards,” John snarled, and I could see the beginning of the transformation on his face. Curling my hand into a fist, they lit up into a ball of fire.

No matter what, I would protect my friends!

They both changed forward at the same time. And just like that---

I froze!
