There was nobody outside the door.

She turned around and came back. A moment later, the doorbell rang again.

Eve Thompson went outside again, opened the door, but there was still nobody there.

She didn't hire any babysitters after the previous one was fired out of fear that they might be Ava White's agents.

With Eve running up and down to open the door, she knew it wasn't a faulty doorbell, but someone playing a prank.

She craned her neck to look outside, only to find someone standing under a nearby tree, waving at her.

Upon learning that her sister wasn't dead, she felt rather calm the next time she saw Irvin.

After looking around to ensure no one was watching, she finally went to Irvin.

As soon as she got close, Irvin blurted out, "Your sister might not be dead!"
