Bab 40: Senile betrayal

"Care for some?"

Adonis walked to the seat of Daniel once more and handed over the beef to the child. Daniel hadn't eaten meat in a long time, and his hunger overwhelmed him.

Stretching his arms forth, he accepted the treat and consumed it like a beast. Adonis smirked and tapped Daniel on the back, telling tales long lost in the books of history.

Daniel grew intrigued by the stories Adonis told, and a bond of men grew between the two. Setting off to bed, Adonis walked off to the camp and wished Daniel a good sleep.

The group rose from rest and grabbed their weapons, with Daniel lurking behind. Strutting his feet through the dirt, Daniel's eyes had grown weary since he kept watch all night.

Yet he pushed on, with simple steps. His fatigue was noticed by the professionals, and they began to enact their schemes. As simple as the plan was, it was all for the destruction of the kid.
