After registering our team for the mission, I arrived at the cafeteria as I had promised but Doctor was nowhere to be seen.
'Where has he wandered off again?' I asked myself in my mind, looking around the cafeteria to see if he was amongst any students or not.
I couldn't think of anything else at the moment, I needed answers... Lots of answers... And with Holborn gone, he was the only one I could count on right now. I knew that he was Holborn's enemy, but that doesn't make him my enemy. I mean come on... Why would I turn a multiversal-level threat into an enemy for no reason? Plus there is a chance that he is stronger than Holborn.
Nothing made sense to me right now, he called Holborn, 12th and since I am younger I'd be 13th or something.
Then again if my theory about the multiverse leaves is correct that would mean it's not based on age but on planet numbers. Holborn is from 5-12th earth and Doctor who is 900 years old is probably around 5-11th or 5-10th.
Another question that kept bothering me was why he waited so long. If his goal was to capture 12th, he could have done it the day he arrived on this planet. He is a time traveller... Why did he wait for so long? Why would he capture him at this point in time?
I was so immersed in my thoughts that I didn't even realise that I wasn't in the cafeteria any longer.
To describe the surroundings I would say, that I was in a flowery field, where a small round white gazebo made of quartz stood tall in the middle of the domain. The gazebo consisted of three openings on three sides along different types of flowers beside them. In the middle of the dome was a table made of quartz with two chairs on opposite sides. I was sitting on one of the chairs while Doctor sat on the other.
The table had different types of food from all around the world, but sadly enough most of them were gone only the plates remained.
"You thought that the cafeteria was real?" Doctor asked, sipping apple juice with a straw.
"Yeah," I answered, looking around my surroundings.
"And why?" Doctor asked again.
"Because your Sage Force is of a much higher level than mine," I answered.
"No, it's because the perception of reality is more real than reality itself," Doctor replied.
"Why do you sound like Alfred- no that's not the main question, why are you drinking apple juice when you said you hate apple?" I asked, getting more confused the longer I stayed around him.
"I said I hate apples, not stuff made of apples," Doctor replied.
"You are the weirdest person I have ever met," I admitted truthfully.
"Glad to know that I am not people, I hate others comparing me to people. Anyways, let's cut to the chase. Ask anything you want but remember that you get only three questions. I don't have time to deal with a kid's endless questions," Doctor said, finally finishing his apple juice.
I had many questions to ask him but the most important of the bunch were the ones I couldn't figure out myself.
"Why are you here?" I asked. It was a simple question but the impact of his answer could cause me to act differently in the future.
"I have a duty of care," Doctor answered, looking a bit sad. "Had would be a better word but... Sadly I failed to fulfill that duty. Now I have a second chance to make up for my mistakes."
'He failed 12th? What does he mean by that?' I thought. "What is the full name of my planet?"
"That is an interesting question, did 12th not tell you? This is Earth 5-10," Doctor replied.
"5-10? How the hell does that make any sense? What Planet are you from them?" I asked, being more confused by his words.
"Planet 5-11. I thought 12th already told you all this... Guess I was wrong," Doctor replied. "Well if that's all, I will leave now."
"The last one was not a question to you but something that I said out loud," I said, trying to maintain my calm expression. "How many of 'us' are out there? That's all I want to know."
"Seriously... Sigh, I can't answer that honestly. I don't know that myself, all I know is that there could be hundreds or maybe thousands of us," Doctor replied. "The multiverse is always expanding, and yada yada. However, currently, I know only twelve of us."
I was not very pleased to hear that my theory was actually correct, I wanted it to be wrong, I wanted everything said by Holborn to be true although I knew it wasn't. I wanted to pretend as if it was true but that was never going to happen I guess...
"Now, off you go, I have a role to fulfill. The class won't teach itself," Doctor said, getting up from his seat. "Oh and before I send you off... Did 12th tell you something about the Lords of..."
"Lords? Not that I can remember," I replied. 'He was about to finish his sentence but stopped midway... I guess that's something I shouldn't know right now.'
"Great! Then you are not related to us, 'yet'. Don't try to inquire me about it, I will tell you about it when you are ready," Doctor replied, seeming happy about the fact.
"Seriously? You shouldn't have asked me about that in the first place if you were going to leave me hanging like that! That's not how conversation works!" I complained.
"Well, it works with otters... I think I lived among them for too long," Doctor replied. "I speak otter... Cool right?"
"... First, human beings are not otters and second, what do you mean you speak otter?" I asked.
"I speak every language there is, Judoon, Zygon, Martian, Ragnars, Cacti, and even baby!" Doctor answered.
"I speak baby as well," I said. 'I still can't believe that I share so many similarities with a mad man.'
