Chapter 11 - "Andorov's Hair Growth Agent"

After careful consideration, Forseti decided to select the Justice Reward.

Based on his current experience, the returns from the gold lottery were not substantial—mostly tokens of gratitude and a small amount of piety. In contrast, the Justice Reward offered a deeper sense of fulfillment.

Moreover, in a place like Asgard, where crime was rare and petty thefts uncommon, acquiring gold was easy but finding justice rewards was a rarity.

"If you wish to show gratitude, a thank-you note will suffice; there's no need for monetary compensation," Forseti suggested.

"A thank-you note?" Gener raised an eyebrow, clearly finding this request unusual.

Forseti was prepared: "I know a person named Arthas. He's respectful of elders and values familial bonds, yet he's overly proud, often claiming to be the kindest person in the Nine Realms... Perform acts of kindness over the coming days and collect thank-you notes to challenge his self-proclaimed title."

"Haha, that's quite amusing," Gener chuckled. "Alright, I agree to your terms."

Forseti smiled and handed over pen and paper. "Here, write it in this format."

"No problem."

After a while, Gener completed the thank-you book, pointing to a section and inquiring, "By the way, what does 'Holy Light' refer to here?"

"It symbolizes justice," Forseti explained.

"Is your friend Arthas an Light Elf?" Gener asked.

Light Elves were known for their gentleness and affinity with cats, residing primarily in Alfheim.

"He claims to have Light Elf blood, but who knows," Forseti replied.

Afterward, Forseti promptly donated the thank-you book to the Piety Store and once again received the Justice Reward through a free transaction.

...

Looking at the potion formula, Forseti was taken aback.

Andorov's Hair Growth Agent?

I'm still a youth; my hair hasn't even fully grown in. Using a hair growth agent would be pointless!

Forseti couldn't help but feel regretful, thinking a bag of gold coins would have been more practical.

Oh well, maybe it'll come in handy in a thousand years...

After returning home, completing his alchemical work, and studying the "Greenhilde Pharmacopoeia" under El's guidance, dinner time had arrived.

Lying in bed, reflecting on the day's events, Forseti eventually retrieved the Holy Deed and turned to the **Book of Experience: Kobold**.

Let's try again.

He refused to believe that as an Aesir, he couldn't defeat a kobold miner.

Placing his palm upon the page, the scene around him abruptly shifted—from his humble abode to a dark, narrow mine.

This mine was so narrow that only one person could pass through at a time. Dimly lit, it was difficult to see more than a few steps ahead—a challenging environment for combat.

Observing his surroundings, Forseti couldn't help but recall his experiences playing World of Warcraft.

Some mines in World of Warcraft had intricate layouts, making it easy to get lost. Moreover, the monsters within were fierce and densely packed, often catching players off guard.

Before he could dwell further, the kobold's familiar line echoed from the depths of the mine, accompanied by hurried footsteps.

"You can't take my candle!" rang out in the dark and narrow confines.

The kobold miner, candle atop its head, charged forth with a mining pick in hand, roaring in challenge.

Under the glow of the candle, the mine finally became slightly brighter as the kobold drew nearer.

Forseti clenched his fists and swiftly moved forward to meet the kobold head-on.

The kobold swung its pickaxe.

Forseti instinctively tried to dodge, but misjudged the space and collided with the cave wall, the pickaxe grazing his leg, eliciting a cry of pain. Gritting his teeth, he retaliated with a punch.

Unexpectedly, the nimble kobold dodged the blow with ease.

The kobold, already short in stature, failed to reach even Forseti's waist with its crouched stance. As it advanced, the candle's flame flickered dangerously close.

Forseti prepared to move, but hesitated upon seeing the kobold's maneuver. He quickly stepped back but stumbled over a stray piece of ore, nearly falling.

Seizing the opportunity, the kobold struck fiercely with its pickaxe, leaving Forseti wounded in several places.

Navigating the cramped space, Forseti frequently collided with cave walls and tripped over scattered ores.

In contrast, the kobold's small stature allowed it to maneuver effortlessly in the environment, advancing and retreating without hindrance.

Unarmed, Forseti found himself overpowered by the kobold miner after a brief struggle, succumbing to its relentless attacks.

Returning to reality, Forseti gritted his teeth in frustration—another defeat!

Try again!

Entering the experience space anew, he found himself once more in the dark, narrow mine.

"You can't take my candle!" declared the kobold, brandishing its mining pick.

Forseti tightened his fists, ready for the challenge.

This time, as the kobold lunged with its pickaxe, Forseti swiftly seized it with quick reflexes.

"You can't take my candle!" the kobold protested.

Forseti pondered for a moment, questioning the design of this line. "I've clearly taken the kobold's pickaxe; shouldn't that change the dialogue?"

Though the kobold miner possessed strength, as an Aesir, Forseti's might was unmatched.

He pulled forcefully, wresting the pickaxe from the kobold's grasp.

With the change in ownership, the battle's dynamics shifted immediately. Forseti hurled the pickaxe back, striking the kobold's shoulder and eliciting a cry of pain.

The kobold rolled away, evading the next blow, and retreated deeper into the mine in a panicked state.

However, due to its diminutive stature, the kobold couldn't outrun Forseti forever, despite its familiarity with the environment.

Forseti pursued swiftly, engaging in a back-and-forth pursuit until several pickaxe blows felled the kobold, delivering a final, decisive strike to its head with a resounding crack.

"Boom!"

Like a deflating balloon, the kobold miner's form instantly dissipated into smoke and dispersed.

Simultaneously, a page of paper materialized on the ground, shimmering faintly.

Forseti drew a deep breath and picked up the paper to examine it closely.

Received: Devotion 4.21, Book of Experience - Big Candle Garg

4.21 points of piety were commendable, but the dropped Book of Experience left him intrigued.

Big Candle Garg?

The name sounded vaguely familiar.
