Bab 13: Chapter 13: Answers

Jude starts to stir as the sun climbs across the horizon, painting his house with beams of light. He looks around his home to see Grayson blinking at him from the floor directly in front of Jude.

"You're awake," Grayson says, sounding shocked.

Jude opens his mouth and starts to prop himself up when he winces. His hand grasps his chest. He brushes his fingers lightly across the skin and looks down to see his wounds closed.

"You…sewed me up?" Jude's voice is hoarse.

Grayson hands him a glass of water. "Yeah. You said no hospitals, remember?" His voice is even, but detached.

"I didn't know you knew how to do that."

Grayson shrugs, thinking about the hour he spent shaking, watching a video tutorial he had pulled up online, and speaking only in expletives as he worked. "I did the best I could. They look good, though. I don't think your body is rejecting them." He hovers his hand over Jude's chest. "I was just starting to change your bandages. Can you sit up?"
