Pandora walked through a desolate forest, he didn't seem to pay much attention to his surroundings, he had a pocket watch hung from his trench coat which ticked in regular intervals. Pandora didn't seem to have much of a sense of direction as he just continued onward not taking a turn or attempting to go another way, simply walking completely straight.
Pandora stopped and looked up at the sky as night began to fall over the already dark forest.
"Why didn't I go with Lucky? It didn't happen that long ago and yet I can't seem to remember why I left him behind." Pandora said to himself, he let out a sigh.
Sticks had crackled somewhere around Pandora.
Pandora turned to the direction him to see Sheen hop out of the bushes, though this reality quickly collapsed as a young man, no older than Pandora held a katana out towards him seemingly ready to attack if Pandora tried to do anything.
"Whoa, there's no reason to be aggressive I'm not even armed." Pandora said
The young man didn't respond.
"Don't move!" The young man yelled as Pandora had began to take a slight step towards him. "Believe me I'm not afraid to gut you." The young man continued
"Look, calm down. Like I said I'm not armed and I have no reason to hurt you." Pandora said
"Yeah right, how the hell do I know that?" The young man said "Besides I'm not taking this chance again." He continued as he quickly closed the gap between himself and Pandora.
When the young man got close enough and swung his sword Pandora had subconsciously dodged, and dropped to the ground, sweeping the young man's leg out from beneath him.
"Shit! I didn't mean to do that!" Pandora said stood up and backed away.
As the young man stood back up he got back into his original stance with an angry look.
"Hey, look can't we just start from square one?" Pandora asked nervously
The young man looked at Pandora for a second, he then looked at something on the ground, Pandora had looked to see what the young man was looking at, it was the pocket watch Pandora had in his pocket however now the glass was shattered and it had stopped ticking completely. Pandora wanted to grab it but he didn't want to get close to the young man.
Pandora looked back up at the young man to see he now had his katana sheathed and his guard was down, Pandora was unsure what made him do this as the young man was aggressive and seemed completely opposed to Pandora's idea just a second ago.
"Considering the circumstances it may be odd to ask now of all times, but what is your name?" The young man asked
Pandora gave a confused look, he thought for a moment "If I tell you my name, you have to help me out. I have no clue where I'm going." Pandora demanded
"What!? Hell no! You're lucky I even let you live." The young man said
"Really? Because from my perspective it looked like I put you in the dirt." Pandora said
"Sure, whatever." The young man said
They both sat for a moment, the young man not daring to attack after what Pandora had done the first time around, and Pandora was afraid of the young man killing him.
"Rain…" The young man said "That's my name… Now you tell me your name." He continued
"My name is Pandora." Pandora said
"Odd." Rain said
"Odd? If anything your name is odd." Pandora replied
"Rain is a perfectly normal name, your name if any is the odd one." Rain said
"Sure… Look I'd like to get a move on." Pandora said
"Well alright I suppo-" Rain said before he was interrupted by a bullet just barely winging by his head.
"What the hell!?" Pandora yelled out as he jumped back
A man wearing a long red coat and a gas mask with two pistols jumped out from the trees along with a short man wearing something similar following behind.
"How in the hell?" Rain asked
"Oh come on did you seriously expect I wouldn't find you?" The man with the pistols said
"They don't call me Judgement for nothin'. You fucked up baddd and Luna wants your head for it." The man with the pistols said
"Luna?" Rain thought to himself
The shorter man looked over to Pandora "Who's that one?" he asked
Judgement looked over to Pandora "I'm not sure who that guy is." Judgement answered with a confused look on his face "Hey cyclops you with the samurai over there?" Judgement said, pointing over to Rain with one of his pistols
"The hell would it matter to you?" Pandora asked
"I'm gonna take that as a yes, which would mean it looks like we got ourselves a good old fashioned 2 on 2!" Judgement yelled out with a slight laughter "Look Testament, Cyclops over there is all yours. I got Samurai Jack." Judgment continued
The short man, Testament, walked up, he had held a claymore by some leather wrapped around the blade, the sword shone a bright silver.
"No weapons, huh?" Testament asked
"Yeah right." Pandora said as he reached into his coat for something, he was soon met with the realization that was nothing in his coat, he gave a kind of startled look.
"Missing something?" Testament asked "I'd be more than willing to go easy on you." Testament said
Pandora sat there for a moment with a worried look on his face
"Well I'm not waiting here all day. So I hope you're ready." Testament asked, before Pandora could respond Testament grabbed his sword by the hilt with his other hand and jumped at Pandora.
Pandora instinctively raised his arms to block Testament's sword, the sword stopped in Pandora's arm once it reached bone.
Pandora's vision flickered hallucinating the sky a blood red, the same stinging headache hit Pandora, as few memories of which he was unsure were his own due to their foreign feeling flashed through his mind. He had remembered why he left Lucky behind, it was to figure out on his own what had happened to him, why he has no memory, why the whole world felt completely foreign to him, as he remembered this he felt a newfound determination, he could not afford to die until he had discovered his past and regained his memory.
Pandora began to push back on the blade ignoring the pain, and the fact that it might just end up going all the way through his arm.
"What the hell! Are you crazy!?" Testament yelled
"Maybe so…." Pandora said with strain in his voice before pushing Testament back, Pandora then punched Testament in the jaw.
Testament backed away from Pandora and held his jaw with one hand "Who!? How?! WHAT THE FUCKING HELL!?!" Testament yelled out with rage in his voice
Pandora turned around to look at the deep gouges in his arm "Oooh, damn that hurts." Pandora said to himself, he shook his arms around as blood ran down them.
"You! You! I am going to rip your spine out from your throat, hang your intestines from these trees and then feed what's left of your corpse to the vultures!" Testament yelled out, he charged at Pandora soon afterwards.
"You weren't hard to piss off." Pandora said as simply stepped to the side to dodge Testament's attack he caught Testament by his hood and then swapped his grip onto Testament's neck, he slammed Testament to the ground by his throat with an incredibly violent amount of force.
Pandora let go of Testament's neck and backed off. "You dead?"
An unconscious Judgement landed the ground behind Pandora
"Did you have to send him flying?" Pandora asked
"All I did was kick him. Anyway it's not the real Judgement, just one of his cult goonies." Rain answered
"What?" Pandora said with confusion
Rain looked at Pandora, he had stared for a moment "Something happen?" Rain asked
"No. Why?" Pandora replied
"That look in your eyes… Or eye, it's not the same one I saw just a couple minutes ago." Rain said
"Well, nothing happened so I'm not sure what you're referring to." Pandora replied
Rain inspected Pandora for a second before looking over to an unconscious Testament. "I'm glad you didn't slam me down like that."
"Huh?" Pandora said with confusion, he looked down at Testament "Oh…" Pandora said
"Yeah, we should probably go." Rain said as he turned around and walked off
Pandora picked up Testament's claymore and caught up to Rain.
Rain and Pandora just kept walking through the forest as the night continued on, even when they got out of the forest they didn't stop walking as they walked from day to night, and over and over again, only stopping to catch something to eat, the two never seemed to get tired, anything that got in their way was swiftly dealt with or avoided. They couldn't be stopped and they didn't plan to be, but unfortunately they couldn't walk forever, they had to stop somewhere. Where they had stopped was the edge of a crater in the middle some plains where nature had only recently began to restore itself, with what looked like another abandoned city inside the crater.
Pandora dropped the claymore, the metal clanked when it hit the ground, shortly after he fell back onto the ground, he laid down on the ground breathing heavily.
Rain stopped and turned around to look at Pandora "Get up…" Rain said
"I… Don't think I can…" Pandora said panting
"Yes you can, get up." Rain said, his body began to feel heavy "Maybe… Maybe I should take a breather too." Rain said as he slowly
sat down on the ground
"Any clue how long we've been going for?" Pandora asked
"I stopped keeping count of the days." Rain said
"Surprised I'm not dead, you know from sleep deprivation and all." Pandora said still breathing heavily
"Yeah well, I could say the same." Rain replied
Rain got on his hands and knees and crawled over to the edge of the crater "There's a city down there, you think there's still people there?" Rain asked
"In this world, no… Not if it doesn't move." Pandora replied as he began to catch his breath a bit, though he was still tired. "Besides I don't think I'm ready to go back into any city yet, populated or not." Pandora continued
"Maybe we should stop here for now." Rain suggested
"We can't." Pandora replied
"What do you mean?" Rain asked
"Where are we gonna sleep?" Pandora answered with another question
"On the ground, I'll just make a campfire, nothing to eat though." Rain answered
"Didn't we just pass a river?" Pandora asked
"Yes, but I don't know if we'll catch anything there, if that's what you're getting at." Rain answered
"I can try, just don't lose my stuff I'll be back in a bit." Pandora said as he slowly got up, once he got up he took off his trench coat and put the sword on the ground, then walked off.
"Yeah yeah, just hurry up night's not too far off." Rain said
It didn't take long for Pandora to make it to the river that he was referring to as it wasn't that far, Pandora rolled up his pant legs, took off his shoes along with his socks and stood just off to the side of the river, he waited patiently looking for anything he could catch.
"I've got nowhere to put anything I catch, do I?" Pandora though to himself "Oh well I'll figure that out once I get there." Pandora continued
As soon as Pandora saw a fish he jumped at it and grabbed it, he had caught the fish, he raised his arms up to the sky and walked out the river, he looked around for a moment. Spotting a two rocks close together, Pandora walked behind the rocks and put the fish in the crevasse between them.
"It's not big enough for us both I'll have to catch one or two more." Pandora said to himself
Pandora continued on, catching at least three more fish before he had once again become too tired to do anymore, he put pulled down his pant legs, put on his socks and shoes again, he took two fish in each hand grabbing them by the tail.
When Pandora came back, Rain had built a campfire with a makeshift grill over the fire, night had already fallen by the time he returned.
"That's cool." Pandora said as he walked up
"Yeah, well I'm just praying that this wood grill doesn't catch on fire with the rest of the wood or fall apart as soon as you put a fish on it." Rain replied as Pandora sat down by the fire and put the fish down beside him
"I hope not either, but uhmm… We still have to cut the fish up." Pandora said
"Just use that claymore you stole." Rain said
"The sword?" Pandora said sounding confused
"Yes, the sword." Rain answered
"That's… Going to be difficult, especially if we don't want the fish to be mangled." Pandora said "Don't you have a knife or anything sharp that's maybe… Smaller?" Pandora asked
"No, just use the sword." Rain said
"Like I said, that's not happening." Pandora replied sounding somewhat frustrated
"Then it looks like we're just gonna have to starve." Rain said as he went from sitting up to laying down on the grass.
Pandora let out a sigh as his stomach grumbled, he grabbed his coat and pulled it over himself as he laid back on the grass, staring up at the night sky, Pandora raised his hand out towards the sky and looked at a star that glistened between his fingers. He couldn't help but shake the feeling he'd forgotten something important, it's something Pandora had been feeling for quite some time, no matter how hard he tried to think back, he couldn't remember. Pandora put down his hand back down at his side, he rolled over onto his side, the ground was cold and rough, the only thing keeping Pandora warm as he drifted off to sleep was his coat.
