Bab 32: Hoarding resources
Bai Jixuan didn't say anything. When he smelled the scent of meat, he knew that Fang Qing must have used the money that he gave to her to subsidise her family once again. He was upset but he was wise enough to know that he could not quarrel with Fang Qing at that moment.
If he fought with her, then she would use the opportunity to keep the kids at the Citrus Village.
"Calm down; don't forget why we are," Bai Jixuan reminded Ba Zhan, who snorted but didn't quibble with him. The two brothers walked to the Fang house and upon arriving at the threshold, Bai Jixuan pressed the doorbell.
"Damn, who is interrupting my meal?" A booming voice came from inside the house, followed by thumping footsteps. The door was pulled open and Big Brother Fang, with a chicken leg and oily mouth, scowled at Bai Jixuan and Bau Zhan.
But when he saw who it was, he immediately straightened up and flattered Bai Jixuan, "Brother-in-law, why are you here? You should have called us."
If this man had called them, then they would have hidden all the good things!
Bai Jixuan had known Big Brother Fang for a long time; thus, he knew him very well; his petty thoughts couldn't escape Bai Jixuan.
But Bai Jixuan was in a hurry and had no time to waste with Big Brother Fang.
His sister was in a vulnerable situation and wanted to see her nephews to cheer herself up. He had to bring his sons as quickly as possible to her!
Bai Jixuan heaved a sigh and said, "Call your sister, there is something I want to say to her."
Big Brother Fang naturally thought that Bai Jixuan had some qualms regarding their expenses now that he had seen him eating meat and went inside to goad his sister. Thus, when Fang Qing came out, she was tall and mighty like a rooster preparing to fight.
With her hands on her hips, she said to Bia Jixuan, "What do you want?"
If someone didn't know the situation well, they would think that Bai Jixuan and Bai Zhan were the ones who came to pester this woman!
"You—" Bai Zhan began.
But before he could say anything, he was stopped by Bai Jixuan, who held his hand and said to Fang Qing, "I am here to bring Qian Han and Jiuque. Mother misses them and asked me to bring them back home for a few days."
He paused and added, "And the rice in the fields also needs to be harvested; let the boys come with me and help around."
Fang Qing frowned and remarked, "Why do you want them to go with you? Jixuan, isn't it good that they are staying with me?" The two sons she gave birth to were really capable and strong; she did not wish to let her brothers do the dirty chores that her sons did.
"Then you give me the money." Bai Jixuan knew how to corner Fang Qing. After all, he had been married to this woman for so long and knew which nerve to grasp to deal with her. Because the two of them got entangled before marriage and the entire Fang family made it sound like it was him who ruined a good woman, Bai Jixuan had to lower his head in front of others.
Thus, even though he knew that he and his sons were being bullied by Fang Qing, there was little to nothing he could do.
When Fang Qing heard that she had to return the money, her eyes flashed, and she said, "W—What do you need the money for?"
"For hiring the labourers. Fang Qing, don't forget that we have more than twenty mu of land. If my sons don't come with me, who will do the fieldwork? Since you want to keep them so much, I will not refuse you, but you need to at least give me the money."
Fang Qing obviously didn't want to give any money. In the end she called her two sons and let Bai Jixuan take them away.
When Bai Jixuan saw that Fang Qing let his son come with him without any fuss, he heaved a sigh of relief.
"Bring them back as soon as the harvesting is done," Fang Qing commanded, as she still wanted her sons to do the work for her brothers. If they didn't come back, then who would do the work?
When Bai Zhan heard her commanding tone, he was so furious that he wished he could fight with her but Bai Jixuan stopped him.
He was taking his sons to the city, so there was no need to quibble with someone like Fang Qing.
"Alright," he agreed before driving away with Bai Zhan and his sons.
On the other hand, Bai Meiyue went to the hardware and building material store and said to the shop owner, "Boss, I would like to buy twenty diesel generators. Thirty solar power panels with the maximum power and fifty water storage barrels. If possible, add ten water pumps and ten chainsaws as well."
Though she awakened as a water-type supernatural being, it was going to take a lot of power to fill gigantic water tanks with her strength alone. She wanted to wait until Little Cai Cai was a bit stronger before taking such steps.
Until then, just buy a water pump and fill the water tank to store water!
The boss was happy with the unexpected business and readily sold the things to Bai Meiyue, who asked the boss to deliver it to her penthouse, where she stored everything in her store ring except for leaving a few in the storeroom.
She then went to the most famous barbeque restaurant for dinner. When she was struggling to eat a proper meal, one of the servers in this restaurant gave her some leftovers and Bai Meiyue would never forget the taste of those leftovers.
Back then she thought that it was the most delicious meal ever! Even if it was greasy and spicy, in her heart it was delicious!
So for the sake of satisfying her heart and soul, she bought two hundred of every barbecue recipe sold by the restaurant.
