Sky Scar had no idea how much time had passed before consciousness gradually returned to him. He could clearly feel that his body was rigid and his circulation was not very smooth. However, surprisingly, his spirit did not decline due to this but instead was very clear about the events he had previously experienced in the academy's auditorium.
William was dead, his death mysterious and sudden. Why did it feel as if every ounce of strength inside of him was drained when William died? Could his gaze also kill people? A thought flashed through his mind; he suddenly remembered that before he entered the auditorium, the closing door suddenly paused. All of this seemed related to him, as if it occurred due to his control. Both instances of unfathomable occurrences involved spatial fluctuations. But how exactly did he control it?
Opening his eyes, Sky Scar found himself in a pristine room, where everything was impeccably clean and tidy. Although it was his first time here, he could guess that this was probably the academy's infirmary. Not far from him, a table with a few bottles of medicine was stationed and several tubes were connected to his body, surrounded by high-tech-looking machines.
Sky Scar recognized only one instrument, the Human Eco-Detector, something he had learned about in class at the academy. The major feature of this device is its capacity to sense all conditions of the human body, including blood pressure, heartbeat, brain activity, and even the strength of the spirit. Students training in the academy with Cosmic Energy have a much stronger spirit than average people, hence the latter feature. The four main monitoring items are represented by lines of four different colors, gently fluctuating on the display screen of the device.
Observing the readings, Sky Scar found his blood pressure, heartbeat, and brain activity appeared normal. However, the green line symbolizing spiritual fluctuations seemed to be much more volatile than the average person's. Could it be that his spirit was truly abnormal?
The red line symbolizing his heart rate began to fluctuate rapidly, revealing Sky Scar's unstable emotional state at that moment. His gaze fell upon the medicine bottles at his side. With apprehensive feelings, he tentatively tried to will the bottles over to himself. Because he was concentrating on the medicine bottles, Sky Scar didn't notice that the blue line representing mental activity on the device was shaking more violently. The peak of this line even started to influence the frequency of the other lines.
"Principal, what on earth is going on this year? William died inexplicably. This top-ranking graduate fainted. Was he scared?"
"Maybe. Sigh, the quality of this group of students is just too poor. It's hard to find one that is both academically and morally excellent. I hope he isn't weak-minded."
The sudden voices startled Sky Scar. At that moment, the medicine bottle he had been trying to control fell onto the metal table with a clang.
Sky Scar closed his eyes, yet he could clearly feel his increasing heartbeat. It was possible, it was truly possible. This was not the Control Object Technique common in physical arts, as that required the joint work of a cosmic force. He managed to move the medicine bottle solely base on the power of his mind. What on earth was going on? Is the spirit as powerful as some scientist once claimed? No, it wasn't just the spirit, it seemed to be the ability of spatial manipulation as well.
The door opened, and two sets of footsteps entered. Sky Scar suddenly realized that his consciousness had spread to every corner of the room. Even without opening his eyes, he could easily discern that the two people were the principal and a teacher from the physical arts department.
The principal first checked the Human Eco-detector that Sky Scar recognized. The moment he stared at it, with the help of Sky Scar's spirit, astonishingly, all the readings returned to normal. The four lines representing the body's condition all moved in a normal rhythm.
"Sky Scar, are you awake?" The principal asked softly.
Sky Scar, eager to understand what happened that day, slowly opened his eyes and said weakly, "Hello, instructor. I've just woken up." His weakness wasn't an act; his body was dangling on the line, his strength sapped from him.
The instructor spoke gently, "I'm sorry about what happened that day. Do you have any insight into William's death? We do not know why you fainted, so we assume, perhaps you saw something."
Sky Scar shook his head. "I don't know anything. When I saw the fresh blood dripping from William's neck, I was scared. My mind fogged over, and I passed out." He said this due to the previous conversation between the instructor and another teacher. He didn't want to be labeled a murderer and face legal penalties. Because William's death was unique, proving he was the killer was unlikely. Therefore, he chose to plead innocence, betting they won't find any incriminating evidence.
Sure enough, the instructor's eyes betrayed his disappointment. Despite the disappointment, his eyes retained their depth. He comforted, "In that case, you should rest. I have completed your graduation procedures. After you have recovered, come to my office to collect your honor badge and you can leave the Academy of Zhongting. Congratulations on achieving your diploma and graduating with honors."
Sky Scar forced a smile and said, "Thank you, instructor." After five years of studying, he had finally graduated. Maybe when he returned to his hometown, he could leverage his diploma to land a good job and support his parents. Although Liana had left, with his prestigious graduate status from the Academy of Zhongting, he'd be able to start a family once he saved enough money. Sky Scar did not have any grand ambitions—he just wanted to live a better life. Although he would never admit it, he was always envious of the luxurious lives led by the children of wealthy families.
The instructor left a card that symbolized his identity by Sky Scar's pillow, comforted him a few more times, informed him that one thousand coins had been transferred to his account, and left with the other teacher.
Sky Scar closed his eyes. He wanted to eavesdrop on the instructor and the other teacher, so he let his consciousness follow them out of the room. His heart raced in realization that his consciousness could actually follow them. Despite them moving out of his hearing range, he could still hear their conversation.
"It apparently appears this child knows nothing." The instructor said sighing.
The other teacher said, "But, instructor, since William's father believes that William's death is related to Sky Scar, I'm afraid he won't give up so easily. Sky Scar is safe within the academy, but he has graduated now, once he leaves, I fear…"
The instructor snorted, "The Galaxy Union is a world of laws, even if old William is chairman of the Thunderbolt Corporation, so what? If he dares to act recklessly, I'll report it to the Holy Alliance. I don't think he'd dare violate Holy Alliance's dignity."
"Yes, yes. No one in the alliance would dare violate the dignity of the Holy Alliance. Besides, you are…"
"Shut up. Some things are not to be spoken casually. You should understand."
"Yes, yes…" The last noises Sky Scar heard were filled with dread.
His consciousness couldn't extend that far. Feeling weak, Sky Scar didn't hear any more. But the words "Holy Alliance" were deeply etched in his mind. The Instructor seemed to have a hidden identity. What was the Holy Alliance? It sounded like an organization that even the Thunderbolt Corporation didn't dare to provoke. Sky Scar knew about the Thunderbolt Corporation, a cross-star business alliance spanning half the Milky Way. He knew William was arrogant at the academy, influential among the rich heirs, but he never thought that William was the son of the chairman of the Thunderbolt Corporation.
Leaving might lead to trouble, but could he stay in the academy forever? No, definitely not. Even if the academy agreed, he could not do that. His time at the academy was finally over. Staying wouldn't bring him anything. The girl who took his virginity was right. To get something, he had to work for it. Liana, didn't you say I was cowardly? I am going to prove you wrong. Starting now, Sky Scar won't ever show weakness again.
