First, I use the hide to make a bed for myself. My back is experiencing the consequences of sleeping on the cold stone ground, so I want a proper bed or at least a somewhat comfortable mattress. It's surprisingly very easy to take it off and properly shave off all of the muscles and meat attached to the skin. It was… gore-y, but I was able to do it quickly because I'm using a wolf's sharp tooth to scrape it off. I store it at the very end of my inventory. I do not want to do that again.
Unfortunately, I have to harvest the bones of the wolves. I would like to eat the meat, but it just feels wrong, especially when I have a servant that's a wolf too.
With quickness, I was able to get most of the bones out of the corpses. They're actually really sturdy! I'll have to ask Ace about this later if he isn't uncomfortable about the topic. After getting all the bones and teeth, I left the dead wolves far away from the base, a way for other enemies to eat it and so that Ace doesn't have to see these corpses again.
Right after I got back, Ace threw the fur at me. Hm, maybe he's uncomfortable with this as well?
"I would rather not see fur of my own kind," he was significantly sad, I could tell from his voice.
"Alright, I'll put it away," if I told him it was a bed for me, he would regret his decision in telling me about it. But, I want to make sure my servant is as comfortable as possible… I guess I'll have to sleep on the ground for the time being. I send the fur back into my inventory and summon the bones in front of me. "What about these?"
Ace's eyes light up. "Master, our bones are the best of all other wolves! Even those outside of the labyrinth, their bones could not compare to ours! It's sturdy and is one of the best materials for weapons and armor! We wolves value our own bones and are taught to appreciate it!"
"Oh, wow!-" I was a bit overwhelmed by Ace's sudden outburst, but at least he's no longer sad like before. I'm very glad that he told me this though, it's quite useful. And, I finally got information about where I am… It's possible that the elaborate maze carved on that chest is where I am now! Also, there's more outside of this place. It'll be nice to find a way back to my world, but I have to focus on getting out of here.
"Master, if you're not bothered, I would love to help you make armor and weapons with the bones!" Ace's face goes closer to mine. I can see his tail wagging. How cute!
"Yeah, I would need your help," I nod my head. "You're obviously more informed on what to do with these."
With great enthusiasm, we started planning out what items we needed to make a weapon for me using the bones.
"Master, remember when I said I needed your help?" Ace asks. I nod my head. "Well, I suppose it's best to do it now."
He leads me to the place where he and his pack were before I came in. I noticed the shiny walls and I immediately knew what it was.
"Iron!?" I exclaim. I look over to see Ace nodding.
"Yes, but there is a bigger problem," he explains. "Parasites are common within wolves, but a recent one that we call 'Wolf Plague' has been killing hundreds of wolves each month. It stores our blood within its body once it goes through our legs. It's tiny, but it's visible. The special thing about it is that it feeds on iron. Me and my pack tried to eradicate the iron in this area, but you came. Don't feel down, Master, as it is only natural for us to try and kill potential enemies. Even if you didn't come, we still wouldn't have done much. Iron is a rather strong material in caves. Our teeth can certainly go through it, but we wolves are not known for our perseverance, as there is simply too much iron deep inside the walls."
"Okay, got it," I nod. An array of sharp teeth piles in front of the large iron ore. Ace immediately figures out my plan.
"Ah, Master, you plan on using the teeth of the dead wolves to carve out the ore?"
"Yep, you got it!" I smile. I pick up a large tooth. "This'll take a while though. Since I don't want you getting the parasite, you'll have to stay at the base and bring me some meat so I can stay awake. You got that?"
"Yes, Master," he nods. He leaves me alone so I can do my work. I take a deep breath. Alright, let's get to it!
The teeth are very strong! Even though the force of the bites comes from the jaw, the teeth help the most when killing off enemies. This is why effectively using them to carve out the ore is the best plan I can think of.
By the end of the next day, I was able to carve out half of the iron ore. Ace was great in giving me my meals, and apparently, he was guarding the buckets of water with his life. I told him he can drink one, just because of how hard he worked.
But, there was a problem the next day.
When I arrived at the area, I saw a large group of bugs flying around the iron.
That must be the damn parasites!
I quickly take out a bunch of the tiny fire orbs and throw them at the bugs. It hits the stone and explodes, burning up every last parasite.
"Jesus!" I exclaim. I didn't know that it worked so effectively. It's only reasonable to think that fire affects bugs and insects the most, so I used a large majority of my fire orbs to catch them on fire. What I didn't expect is the explosion upon impact. "Hm, maybe I can use this to my advantage!"
My face distorts into disgust as I look at all of the dark yellow blood splattered on the wall. A bunch of normal red blood is mixed with yellow blood. It's definitely the Wolf Plague.
"Congratulations! You've earned the title, 'Eradicator of Parasites!'"
"... What?" I say out loud. "WHAAAT!?"
When I opened my status window, I realized that I was at level nine! How the hell?
"Must be the parasites," I say to myself. "It makes sense. Parasites are already a very dangerous thing to everyone, but assuming from the title I gained, I killed every member of the parasite, which is… nearly impossible!"
I groan as I crouch down. Who knew that eradicating an entire parasite only took a few fire orbs?
With a sigh, I check all of my other skills. My enhance skill gained another level, and my craftsmanship gained another level. I still have no use for shapeshift, so it stays at level 1. I've gained two skills though… 'Pyrokinesis!'
"Amazing!" I smile. I can control fire to my will! This is especially useful when I run out of fire orbs…
I check the description of my title.
[ Eradicator of Parasites
With your valiant efforts, you eradicated a parasite/parasites! You have also gained an affinity for Fire since you eradicated a Bug Parasite with fire! All fire skills will enhance its attack by +10% and its effectiveness against enemies weak to it by +15%! You have gained the skill 'Pyrokinesis.' ]
"Isn't this too OP?" I say out loud. My mouth is smiling, but I feel the sweat on the side of my head. I stand in front of my window in shock, but I shake my head awake. "Alright! I have to remove that iron ore! Even if Wolf Plague doesn't exist, I'll get the iron for myself!"
After a tiring day, I finally got the iron ore! I run back to base and show Ace all of my hard work!
"I even got rid of the entirety of the Wolf Plague!" I exclaim excitedly.
"WHAT!?" Ace yells. He usually never does that, which is why I flinched. "Master… You're amazing! Not only have you gotten the iron out of the wall, but you have also removed the very thing that's been plaguing the wolves for months! I thank you, Master!"
Ace bows his head, showing his deep respect towards me. I stand there, simply chuckling. I kind of expected him to do this.
"It's nothing, really," I say to him. "Now, we'll make those bone weapons after I tell you everything else."
