Bab 37: Chapter 36 Immortal Encyclopedia
Whenever Qiu MarKe had time, he would spare some of his time to teach the youngest clan member. During one the of lessons LiHua sat in for Qiu Marke's philosophy lectures, he explained that he believed that all creatures at their birth of creation were all neutral; he did not believe in seed of evil birthing evil beings. It was more of their principles that they chose what they wanted to be. With his lesson, he introduced immortal creatures that some LiHua knew of prior her ascension into Heavens. In her limited knowledge of the universe of immortals, there were a lot more that LiHua was ignorant about, such as demi-gods, devils, demons and evils spirits.
LiHua had learnt that evil spirits, instead of going to their next afterlife, they chose to stay in the mortal realm as vengeful ghosts, causing disturbances. In regarding to devils, the first known devil dated far back before Choas Wars and they were immortals with good cultivation but was influenced by the ancient evil. It was said to be very difficult but was not impossible for a devil to walk back the path of good.
Demons on the other hand were divided in two groups. The first were the natural born Demons from the Ancients primordials beginning of creation, alike the Gods. The latter were creatures with higher spirituality that could cultivate to achieve immortality and gain human forms. Unlike evil spirits and devils, there were good demons too.
Qiu MarKe told her that in his travels, he had seen how demons born and lived in underworld, had families and treated others fairly and had social system. Devils, even if they had chosen their evil path, would also be benevolent and spare innocent people, as such as evil spirits, after some of them had achieved their revenge, they would choose to leave for Court of Wheel of Rebirth.
Dizzy from her grand-uncle's philosophy lecture, LiHua left her lesson dazed. She just wanted to know how these devils, demons and other beasts looked like. Leaving her class, LiHua went to visit the Court of Moon and to ask her wise elder friend, YueXia LaoRen.
"YaTou, let me introduce you, BaiZe 白泽, who is an expert of creatures. He goes around and record all the different monsters and beasts. BaiZe speak many languages to communicate with all kinds of creatures, thus able to chronicle the thousand over species.
His encyclopaedia of demons and other creatures was said to be so beneficial to Celestial court, that he was bequeathed an esteemed beast title and to be the leader of his own future established clan, White Horned Clan."
YueXia LaoRen took her to BaiZe's residence, a place with wide marsh and a simple looking hut in the middle of the clear water, with many a clean grass and a mix of other herbal fragrance smell. He had mentioned that BaiZe likes wine and she brought a special peach blossom wine brewed by her elders.
She had learned how to make but had to store them to let it rest for years until it had fully fermented and had the special distinctive taste. Her elders did not allow LiHua to drink a lot, and usually supervise the young fairy not to overindulge on her wine, always telling her that wait till she mature for her to drink more than a cup.
When LiHua asked them back of when would she mature and ripen, the males would retreat tactfully out of sight. It seems that the clansmen would do so when they heard the word 'ripen'. The ladies would look at her dotingly and pat her head, telling her that she was still young but when the time came, she would mature then later ripen when her destined partner showed up.
Destined partner…did that mean she would be shackled down like the females in the clan? It was as what YeXia LaoRen had offered her before when she met him in Mortals realm - a husband. To LiHua, she rather mature and not ripen then. There were so much more things to explore before settling down! In fact, she would choose a partner, who was willing to take her around. To travel, one had to gain more knowledge to assimilate with the natives harmoniously. Which was why she was here to meet BaiZe.
Wearing muted grey and green hanfu, a youthful looking horned male with his hair down, tied simply with a ribbon, letting the wind sway his white hair, stepped out of his hut to greet his visitors. LiHua greeted BaiZe and smiled when BaiZe's eyes brightened when he saw her wine bottle.
The trio sat on a wooden table, and LiHua poured wine for her elders. Both YueXia LaoRen and BaiZe smelt the fragrant peach blossom wine, nodding and called aloud "good wine!" when they sipped the wine. LiHua took out a plate of pastries she made earlier and offered to YueXia LaoRen first before offering next to BaiZe.
With great weather, good wine and delightful snacks to go along with, it was a relaxing atmosphere. BaiZe gave LiHua a proper look and casually asked if she was a Gold Peach Clan fairy, to which surprised LiHua a little and did not deny it. Her Amulet of Disguise should be working. YueXia Laoren knew of her lineage when he saw her nameplate, but he just continued to stroke his long beard, waiting for the younger immortals to continue.
Seeing the elegant immortal enjoying her family's wine, Lihua asked if she could take a look of the creatures in his encyclopedia, BaiZe did not reject her request but told her he was making another copy as the current one was with Yuan LeiFeng. Apparently, he was fighting with some unknown formidable creatures after his battle with the army of the Dark Emperor of Underworld and had came forth to BaiZe to study his encyclopedia of all chronicled creatures to find out who were those demons.
BaiZe asked LiHua, which creature she wanted to know about and he could answer her questions. She actually wanted to peruse about BaiZe's encyclopedia, curious about other creatures, and which creatures she should avoid, were she to encounter in future. Now that the book was not here, she could think about some of the creatures, such as HunDun. BaiZe told her regretfully that was one of the races, together with some other hybrid creatures that he did not chronicle as he did not have much information or had the privilege to meet. BaiZe had heard about some rumors about new shadowy creatures but without seeing and speaking to them, he would not believe and mark them in his Book of Creatures.
After writing down of name and characteristics of helpful for future reference and nasty creatures to be beware of, LiHua let the two males stay on to talk, while she took her leave. There was to be a banquet the Jade Emperor welcome esteemed guests to celebrate the God of Lightning, Yuan LeiFeng, gaining of a new title, God of War. LiHua had longed wanted to make Yuan LeiFeng's acquaintance, chuckling as she skipped back home, reminiscing her idolizing the God of Lighting days in the island.
