What does it mean to be "special"? This oneshot is about two childhood bestfriends competing each other through studies, but as soon as they grow up, they discover more and more about their true intentions, motivations and frustrations in life. The main character is "reborn". This plot device and the detailed imagery of snow portraying different symbolisms in life, helps to create an essential point on how the main character learns and suffers. The phrase "A prodigy at ten, a genius at fifteen, a common man past twenty." means really deep because it speaks for the cruel and harsh truth of reality, but the best thing to do for this truth is to accept it positively. The phrase reflects the main character's struggles and hardships in aiming how will he become "special". Excellent character development and portrayal! The story leaves a hole in my heart and creates a huge emotional void containing a lot of reflections of my life, if I can be ordinary or special. It slaps you with the harsh truth which will help you see more of what are the "truths" and "hidden meanings" of life, through the characters' struggles, perspectives, conflicts, motivations, realizations and developments. A huge thanks to Kohigashi Nora for creating this novel! 💖
