Such was the Vow that Lynn had forged with the almighty Angel of the Flame, when she had convened with Them upon the highest peak of the Heavenshard Mountains. A pilgrim seeking the wisdom of their god; she had journeyed high into one of the world's last bastions of feral wilderness—only to turn away that god's hand; a selfish, cowardly act made for all the best reasons.

In a manner of speaking, she was still defending the throne.

That was what she told herself. In reality, every step she took was another step away from the path that she had forged, and another step down the road that the Angel had first chosen for her.
