Bab 26: Jorden's POV [1]
I am Jorden Stafford. I am the CEO of a multinational company. Furthermore, I also have a love interest, though my love interest still doesn't know that I like him.
It is really fate that I met him when he came for an interview at my company. I decided to hire him based on his merit. He was a professional when it came to dealing with multiple matters at the same time.
While leaving the office after my work, I often saw him working a night shift every Wednesday and Saturday. After observing him for one month, I finally decided to satisfy my curiosity. I asked him why he worked the night shift while everyone left for their home. He said he works part-time at a convenience store from one p.m. to three p.m.
One day, I decided to visit the convenience store where he worked part-time. I followed him in my car as he took a taxi. Soon we arrived at the store where he worked.
I saw that just as he entered the store, a middle-aged man came forward, grabbed his collar roughly, and slapped Stefan loudly. Everyone present in the store ignored his situation and watched with cold eyes as that man took Stefan to an alley and demanded a huge amount of money.
It seems as if Stefan was used to this kind of behavior. He did not resist and took out a sum of money from his pocket to give to the man. The man snatched the money, slapped Stefan, and warned him not to resist, otherwise, he will not let Stefan live a peaceful life.
From that day on, I understood, that Stefan was in a very difficult situation and decided to investigate it.
After investigating Stefan, I found out, that man was his own father. He often took Stefan's money and beat him. Stefan was used to this. Even his mother did not care about him. Out of responsibility, I sent some of my men to follow Stefan and inform me whenever there was something unusual, and also someone to follow his father to punish him.
One of the teams involved in this case disappeared mysteriously. There was no trace of them, no matter where my men searched. I found out that the team which disappeared was following my orders to trail Stefan's father.
I knew, very well, there was no way the middle-aged man was that powerful. He was just a salesperson working for a small company. Even after sending other teams, nothing was found unusual about him.
But, somehow, I had this strange intuition that Stefan's father could not do all this without someone's help.
This time, I decided to follow him myself.
After investigating, I already found out that this man always came to demand money from Stefan on Saturday every week.
When Saturday came, I quietly followed Stefan and after wearing a mask stopped him from slapping Stefan. Did he want to slap Stefan? Did he ask for my permission before doing that? Who the hell is he to slap my crush!!.
After acting like an enthusiastic passerby and saving Stefan, I headed to a bench. I watched as that man limped and walked straight as if he had a destination he had to go to. At that moment, I understood that this time, I will definitely get some lead.
It was because I injured him earlier, he was walking slowly, which just gave me a chance to follow him. After following him for a while, I discovered that came to a well-known building.
'The Elisa Building', this building, although nothing to him, clearly should be impossible for a small salesperson to live in. Then, that could only mean, he came to meet someone, he often had contact with.
From my life experiences, I knew that this person cannot be a friend of Stefan's father. Any person who can live in this building has a certain fame or status in the eyes of society.
I followed him and hid behind a thick pillar, just enough to cover me and my shadow. I watched as he entered the lift and clicked on the sixth floor. How did I know it? It's because, before coming here, he stopped at a food stall and purchased samosa from there.
After he ate the samosa wrapped in the newspaper, he wiped his hands on his clothes. But, samosa is cooked by deep-frying, until it becomes crispy golden and brown.
A small part of oil must still be present on his fingers. So, after the elevator reached the sixth floor, I got into the elevator and observed the number of buttons.
There it was...the number six button, was oily and shining in the light. After reaching the sixth floor, I felt a cold air rushing towards my face and my back was covered in goosebumps in no time.
Soon, I felt a warmth emanating from my body. I did not it any attention though. I just thought it was a normal body reaction.
'Uhh.....', someone, hit me from behind just as I took a step out of the elevator. I met a cruel pair of eyes before I lost consciousness.
Although I was not awake, somehow, I was still able to think.
It must be Stefan's father who ratted me out. He must have known I was following him, but he still chose to keep quiet and behaved nonchalantly.
The force with which I was attacked can only be achieved with the help of an external object. When I came out of the elevator, I already observed the surroundings. There was nothing except for a potted plant. It seems that the person who attacked used a stick-like weapon to knock me out!
My train of thought was interrupted when I heard them talking about me.
''What should we do with him?'', a voice said. I am sure it was his father's voice.
''Him?'', the other replied in a gloomy voice which had a strange accent to it.
